Frost is a destructive phenomenon for many crops, and they especially strongly affect seedlings. At the same time, even tomato seedlings that are hardened in greenhouses can easily get frozen! In this case, the leaves on it begin to fade, but do not rush to throw out the frozen seedlings - with the proper approach, it is quite possible to revive it! What exactly should be done for this?
What's the first thing to do?
First of all, the frozen seedlings must be thoroughly sprayed with cold water - this should be done at about four to five in the morning, making sure that water droplets remain on the villi. And then the seedlings need to be properly shaded from direct sunlight. The most important thing in this case is to give her the opportunity to thaw gradually and slowly, since she can only come to life with this approach! If you can't slow down the thawing process, it is recommended to feed the frozen seedlings well. Urea is especially well suited for these purposes - it is applied directly under the roots, spending only one matchbox of urea for every ten liters of water - this top dressing perfectly helps the leaves to come to life as soon as possible and successfully continue their growth!
Resuscitation drug
There is a special drug designed to reanimate a wide variety of vegetation - it is called "Stimul". And on the sachet with this drug it is directly written that it is intended just for the restoration of various cultures after frost! This tool is also suitable for frozen tomato seedlings - it is bred in accordance with the instructions and sprayed on the affected seedlings. At the same time, the very first positive results can be seen the very next day - the seedlings will "start up" and begin to gradually come to their senses!
Also, a drug called "Epin" is very suitable for reanimating frozen seedlings - it is used in such situations just as often. Both "Stimul" and "Epin" will become a real salvation for frozen seedlings, because for many years of their existence they have already managed to prove themselves well! The most important thing is not to exceed the recommended concentration of the solution under any pretext, and also not to forget that it is necessary to process tomatoes with these means only in the mornings or evenings!
Folk remedies
In order to "revive" the frozen seedlings, it is quite acceptable to use some folk remedies. For example, you can dissolve a tablespoon of ammonia in a liter of water, after which all the seedlings are thoroughly spilled with the resulting solution. If there are a lot of seedlings, of course, one liter of solution is clearly not enough - in this case, it is prepared more, strictly observing the originally specified proportion. The nitrogen contained in ammonia will help stimulate drooping seedlings to further successful growth, and water will contribute to a significant improvement in sap flow.
What to do next?
It is categorically not recommended to pinch or cut off frozen seedlings - she is already experiencing quite serious stress, so first you need to give her the opportunity to come to her senses and gain strength. Approximately a couple of days after the seedlings have been shed with "Stimul", "Epin" or a solution of ammonia, it must also be properly shed with "Fitosporin" - this approach will help the plants quickly get out of the stress state. And the wilted leaves will gradually dry out and fall off by themselves, so do not pick them off, once again disturbing the seedlings.
If tomato seedlings are still in substrates or cups, then the roots will be warm in such conditions, and the tomatoes will move away from frost much faster. By the way, if the seedlings were planted in "snails", then in some cases they are generally able to endure frost very well! Well, if she has already been planted in the ground and has suffered enough from frost, then after providing first aid, one whole stepson must be left on the tops of the seedlings, and all the other stepsons are neatly pinched. This is done in order to protect the plants from wasting extra energy, as well as to give them the opportunity to regain growth, that is, after a while, new ones will certainly appear in the places of the frozen stepsons! It is also recommended to feed severely damaged seedlings with mullein and humates. After such "procedures" even the palest seedlings often come to life and please with good harvests!
