Dicenter also known by this name as a broken heart. This plant is endowed with an extraordinary degree of decorativeness, as well as a very original form of flowers. This flower is a perennial plant. The spreading bushes of the dicentra are endowed with brushes of flowers of a bright color: such bushes look great throughout the summer period.

There are many types of this plant. The magnificent dicentra in height is capable of reaching even one meter, the flowers of this plant can be painted both in white and yellow, and in pale pink tones. A beautiful dicentra in height can reach forty centimeters, the flowers of this plant can be cream, white and even pink.

The exceptional dicenter in height will not exceed twenty centimeters, and the flowers of this plant will be painted in pink tones. The Canadian dicenter will be about thirty centimeters high, and the flowers of this plant have a white tint. The climbing dicenter is endowed with yellow or white-pink flowers.

Care and cultivation of dicentra

The dicentra is a rather unpretentious plant to care for, however, if some individual growing rules are followed, this plant will turn out to be even brighter. The center for favorable development will require shady areas with fertile and well-drained soils. However, this plant is very unpretentious in the choice of soil, as well as the dicenter can also develop well in sunny areas. However, it should be noted that in shady areas, the flowering of the plant will be longer. In order to prolong the flowering of the dicentra, it will be necessary to ensure the timely removal of those inflorescences that have already bloomed. The plant will need moderate watering, which, however, must also be regular. It is worth noting that in dry and hot weather, watering the dicenter should be significantly increased. However, it should be noted that the plant does not tolerate stagnant water quite well.

Before flowering, you will need to feed the plant with both mineral and organic fertilizers. Humus can act as organic fertilizers. After the flowering period is over, experts recommend feeding with fertilizers that will contain nitrogen. Such top dressing will contribute to the laying of new buds. In the autumn period, it is necessary to cut off the aerial part of the plant, and cover the plant itself with spruce branches. It is noteworthy that in one place the dicenter can grow even up to four years.

It should be borne in mind that it has been noted that some people may experience skin irritation upon contact with the dicenter.

Reproduction of dicentra

The dicentra is able to reproduce both by dividing the bush, and by segments of the rhizome, and by cuttings. Reproduction by dividing the bush should be done in early May or in the month of August after the end of flowering. If you choose propagation by cuttings, then young shoots should be taken for cuttings. Such reproduction should be carried out in the spring period of time before the beginning of flowering of the plant. In addition, some species of dicentra can reproduce throughout the summer period. The cuttings should be planted in greenhouses to a depth of about ten centimeters. It is important to remember that the cuttings should be shaded out of direct sunlight.

As for reproduction by means of segments of rhizomes, this should be done during the dormant period of the plant, namely at the end of the summer season. Parts of the order of ten centimeters in length should be cut off from the rhizomes; at least one renewal bud should be located on such segments. Sections of rhizomes should be planted directly in a permanent location.
