Looking from afar at the "golden rods" of the inflorescences of the Solidago plant, one would not even think that this tall and slender plant was considered by botanists to the Astrov family. But, if we take a closer look at a separate miniature flower, we will see the same traditional basket-inflorescence, the main feature of the representatives of this plant family.
The end of August and September are the most "golden" periods for Solidago. Long peduncles, covered with numerous graceful flowers, slightly curving, perhaps, are the first to remind people of the arrival of golden autumn. Goldenrod is steadily increasing its popularity, increasingly decorating the background of the mixborder, draping nondescript outbuildings or an unsightly fence, showing off with a dense wall on city flower beds. The honey scent of golden twigs attracts bumblebees and bees in a hurry to complete the collection of winter food supplies.
In the Latin name of the genus of plants "Solidago" botanists reflected the healing abilities of its individual species, relying on the Latin "solidus", meaning "strong" or "healthy". Europeans, who in the old days loved to arrange massacres between nations, healed battle wounds using Solidago herb.
"Golden rods" feel great when cut, and therefore they are suitable for composing autumn bouquets that do not lose their freshness and aroma for a long time, bringing a "golden note" to home comfort.

Tagetes, popularly called the Marigolds, is another representative of the Astrov family, who arrived in Europe from the warm American lands.
