Yellow capsule sometimes also called water lily, as well as kupava yellow. The Latin name for this plant is Nuphar lutea. The yellow capsule belongs to a family called water lilies.
Description of the yellow capsule
The yellow egg capsule is a perennial herb. This plant has a fairly thick rhizome that will be fleshy and scarred. These scars are leaf marks that fall off each year. The length of this rhizome is about three to four centimeters.
The leaves will move away from the rhizome itself. The lower leaves of the capsule are yellow, translucent and have a heart-shaped base. It is important to note that in drying up reservoirs, the leaf blade of this plant will be much smaller. The roots themselves will also extend from the rhizome itself, and then these roots take root at the very bottom of the reservoir.
Flowering of the yellow pod begins in June and continues until September. The flowers of this plant are yellow in color, they are solitary, spherical and will float above the surface of the water. The seeds of the yellow capsule are clothed in an elliptical shape. These seeds ripen around July-September.
Under natural conditions, this plant can be found in the European part of Russia, as well as in Central Asia, in Western and Eastern Siberia. This plant grows in lakes, rivers, as well as other bodies of water, where there is clear stagnant or slowly flowing water. It should be noted that the plant categorically does not tolerate polluted wastewater.
Medicinal properties of the yellow capsule
The medicinal raw material of the yellow capsule is rhizomes, flowers, and also leaves. Rhizomes should be harvested around late August or early September. In addition, this collection can be postponed to the spring. The rhizomes should be torn off with a fairly strong jerk, or the roots themselves can be cut off beforehand. The raw materials should be cleaned of possible residues of roots or leaf stalks, after which the raw materials are dried in the shade, where excellent ventilation of the room should be ensured. If you plan to use a dryer, then you should decompose the raw materials in a fairly thin layer, and the temperature should be sixty degrees. The guarantee of well-dried rhizomes is that the rhizomes will break with a characteristic crackle. The received raw materials should be stored in bags made of cloth. Moreover, such raw materials can be stored for about two years.
As for the flowers, they should be harvested during the flowering period. Leaves should be dried directly in the oven or in dryers at a temperature of about fifty to sixty degrees, the leaves should be spread out in a very thin layer. The storage method will be the same, however, such raw materials can be stored for no more than one year.
Rhizomes should be eaten boiled or salted. Sometimes these rhizomes can be added to the dough when baking bread. Those drugs that are made from the yellow capsule are characterized by a diuretic, contraceptive and bacteriostatic effect. Actually, after using such drugs, the muscles of the internal organs relax, and blood pressure decreases.
A decoction made from a yellow capsule is used for tuberculosis diseases, as well as for various inflammations of the urinary tract and kidneys. In addition, such a decoction also helps with gout, rheumatism, as well as cough and various skin diseases.
As for the analgesic effect of such a decoction, it is recommended to use it for pain in the head, teeth and ears. Sometimes a decoction of a yellow capsule mixed with beer helps with seborrhea.
