Many people prefer to have a hearth in the house, which surpasses all other types of heating in terms of efficiency and quality of heat. The stove is a fundamental structure that occupies the central part, so the issue of finishing is of interest to all lovers of a comfortable environment. To increase heat transfer and create an aesthetic exterior, we offer several types of finishes that are easy to do even for women

Decor value

It is known that the oven is a brick structure. In an unfinished state, it does not always look aesthetically pleasing, it has a rough surface on which dust collects and there are difficulties in cleaning. Also, in the process of burning, the accumulated plaque exudes an unpleasant odor.

The decoration has a functional value. Regardless of the material chosen, as a result of the application of plaster or tiles, the physical mass increases, especially if natural stone, tiles are used. As a result, the volume increases and, accordingly, the heat transfer.

Plastering

This method is ideal for old stoves after restoration work, it is acceptable for freshly created structures. On old plastered structures, the entire previous layer is completely removed. Next, you need to smooth the surface - lapping. Grinding is recommended to be done with half a wet brick, for this put a container of water and periodically wet your "tool". For convenience and quality improvement, the solution is applied with a spatula or metal trowel, followed by processing with a special grater made of wood, plastic.

The prepared surface is treated in different ways: with a solution of clay, cement, asbestos or gypsum. If the oven is just built, you should wait a couple of weeks until not only the surface seams, but also the inner masonry are completely dry.

Plastering sequence

We remove the surface layer of the masonry joints, with a depth of 10 mm, if more is required, then 15 mm can be allowed. Grind the entire outer surface with a metal brush and wet brick.

We prepare the base for the solution - a metal mesh. Take the size of the mesh no more than 20 mm.

We carry out the fasteners in all directions, capturing the vertical and horizontal stripes of seams. For installation, you need steel wire or nails, which are staggered every 100 mm.

We melt the oven, wait for the uniform heating of all sides to 50-60 degrees.

Apply the plaster twice to the wetted surface. Having finished the creation of the first coating, we maintain the interval until the put solution is completely dry.

Advice: make the first layer liquid, apply 4 mm thick. The second is slightly thicker, try to maintain a uniform coverage of 6 mm.

Plaster solutions

Asbestos is often included, but its toxicity will not be beneficial. We recommend using natural ingredients. The first option: lime takes 2 parts of the proportion, 1 - gypsum, 0, 2 - fiberglass, 1 - sand. The second option: 2 - sand, 1 - cement, and 1, 2 - clay. Important: pre-dry ingredients are passed through a fine sieve.

Additional decor

In some places, you can introduce any elements of decoration: pieces of ceramic tiles, clay products, glazed particles. Rusting is often used - this is a kind of pattern, in the form of shallow grooves on the surface, which are drawn on wet plaster. The oven dried after processing can be painted in any color. According to the interior, it is permissible to use several colors, create drawings.

Doors, dampers, dampers are renewed with a coating of organosilicon mastic. This paint has high heat resistance and adheres well to cast iron.

Tiling

The ceramic surface is considered the most beautiful, practical, and easy to clean. Has disadvantages: susceptibility to temperature extremes can lead to cracking, deformation, flaking from the base. Therefore, the method is used only for devices with a lined firebox, which is lined with a special refractory material (brick) inside.

Tips for working with tiles

- To reduce the coefficient of expansion when heated, use small tile sizes.

- Be sure to use an iron mesh (10 * 10 mm) under the base, fasten with self-tapping screws with a wide head.

- Fix on heat-resistant adhesives, with elasticity in characteristics. Choose special ones designed for the repair and decoration of stoves.

- Grout the joints with the usual mixtures of the desired color.
