What if the stove smokes?

The stove is a faithful and reliable assistant to many owners of private households, summer cottages or their own baths. It is she who helps to warm up in the winter cold, heat the water for bathing and even prepare a delicious dinner for the whole family. However, sooner or later, most of the happy owners of stoves are faced with the fact that they begin to smoke. But such behavior of the stove can pose a serious danger not only to health, but also to life! What can this be connected with, and what if this problem does appear?

Brand new stove

A freshly folded brick stove must dry thoroughly - this can take up to two weeks. And throughout this period, the valve with the blower must be kept open - with constant access of air inside, the masonry will dry out much faster! And then the stove must be heated for about half an hour, after which the inner sides of the cleaning doors should be carefully examined. If there is condensation, it means that the stove is not dry enough yet and you need to give it some more time. And if the moisture has not yet come through, you should also pay attention to the lower part of the valve. If it is dry, then the stove is perfectly dry and there should be no more smoke in the room!

If, after a couple of weeks, the stove continues to smoke, and there is no condensation on the doors and on the valve, you will have to invite a specialist - perhaps serious miscalculations were made during the construction of the structure (especially the wrong laying of the well leads to smoke), and they must be corrected.

Downtime too long

As a rule, in the summer period, stoves are used extremely rarely or are not used at all, and in this case, we can safely talk about a long downtime. But in the fall, as soon as the owner of the house decides to light up the stove, huge clouds of smoke often appear in the room. A similar effect can be observed in winter, usually if the house has been left for several days. Why is this happening? Everything is very simple - in this case, the effect of reverse thrust appears, since the temperature in the room and outside becomes almost identical.

To avoid such troubles, you need to open the door closest to the chimney for cleaning and set fire to a sheet of paper inside it, letting in hot air - gradually rising up, this air will contribute to the formation of normal draft. You can also use a blowtorch for this purpose, directing its flame directly into the door - the stove in this case will also warm up thoroughly, which in turn will allow you to return adequate traction. If these methods do not work, you will have to open the hog located in the attic and fire up the paper already there. And in the most extreme case, summer residents even have to climb onto the roof and throw lighted paper directly into the chimney.

Aging and wear

The reasons for the appearance of smoke inside the room can also lie in the wear and tear of the stove - it is possible that a crack has formed somewhere inside the structure, a brick has accidentally failed, or the chimney channels are clogged with ash or soot. In this case, it is necessary to thoroughly clean or repair the oven, as well as eliminate all existing problems in the worn out structure. To clean the chimneys, special hard brushes are usually used, and the air ducts located inside the stove are perfectly cleaned with a hard broom and an ordinary scoop. The destroyed masonry must be restored, and the cracks that have appeared must be repaired with a special oven solution.

Too strong wind

To cope with this nuisance, it makes sense to purchase a special cap for the chimney - this simple device will contribute to the separation of air flows and prevent back draft. And also such a cap will reliably protect the pipe from the ingress of birds, various debris and snow and rain. So in no case should you give up the idea of acquiring it!

The most important thing when using any stove is to learn how to light it up correctly, in no case forgetting that this process does not tolerate haste and fuss. This will significantly reduce the likelihood of smoke in the room!
