Description of common cockle

The common doll is also known under the following popular names: konkal, googol, field carnation, hairs, tornitsa grass and puppet path. The common cockle is an annual, soft-haired plant, endowed with a straight stem, the height of which will fluctuate between thirty and eighty centimeters. The leaves of this plant are either linear or linear-lanceolate, the sharp flowers of the common cockle will be quite large, most often they are painted in red tones, but occasionally they can be white. It is noteworthy that the flowers of this plant are not endowed with a smell. The petals of the common cockle are solid, they will be endowed with a notch at the very top, while such petals will gradually taper into a claw. There are only ten stamens of this plant, the pistil is endowed with five columns and even an upper ovary. The fruit of the common cockle is a unilocular box, which will open by means of five valves, and the fruit is also endowed with kidney-shaped and rather large tuberous poisonous seeds, painted in black tones.

The flowering of the common cockle occurs in the summer period and at the very beginning of the autumn period. It is noteworthy that this plant will be ubiquitous, with the only exception being deserts. It should be noted that flour from a grain that will be contaminated with the seeds of this plant will be poisonous.

Description of the medicinal properties of the common cockle

The common cockle is endowed with very valuable medicinal properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the roots, seeds and grass of this plant. In Bulgarian folk medicine, the herb and seeds of this plant are used in the treatment of hemorrhoids, dermatoses and furunculosis. Mainly, such a healing agent is recommended to be used in the form of poultices or compresses prepared from fresh leaves of the common cockle. It is recommended to rinse the mouth with an infusion of herbs and seeds of this plant in case of toothache. It is important to remember that the internal use of funds based on this plant requires the utmost degree of caution and even medical supervision, which is due to the fact that the common cockle is a poisonous plant.
