The bathhouse is considered one of the essential attributes of a country house or summer cottage. Many people prefer to do such construction on their own, without resorting to the help of professionals. The process of building a bath itself consists of several steps, each of which has its own importance. In this article we will talk about the correct arrangement of floors for a bath, because it is very important to correctly manage the provision of water drainage, equip ventilation and thermal and waterproofing systems. This will require compliance with the installation rules.
First of all, you need to decide on what material you will be equipping the floor with. Today, the most common options are concrete or wood flooring. Each of these materials has its own pros and cons, but you will also need to study the main points of installation.
A wooden floor is, of course, a classic solution that has not lost its popularity for a very long time. Even the emergence of new building materials on the market did not diminish the popularity of wood. The advantages of a wooden floor include their complete environmental friendliness and absolute safety for your health. Wood is a material that is attractive from an aesthetic point of view, which, among other things, will also testify to the good taste of its owner. Compared to concrete floors, building a wooden floor does not take much time. The tree in the bath will create an incredibly cozy and homely atmosphere.
There are two main types of floors, into which they are subdivided depending on their design. Floors can be leakproof and leaky. As for the leaking options, here it will be necessary to perform the flooring of the so-called single-level floorboards, which will be responsible for the exit of water through the cracks. This water is subsequently absorbed into the soil under the foundation. The disadvantages of such floors include the impossibility of insulating them, because the floorboards must be removed and dried every time.
Leak-proof floors require installation with an inclination towards the drain hole itself, which must be equipped with a water trap and a drain pipe. This tube will lead to the septic tank. To create such a structure, it will be necessary to install the subfloor, and also to carry out insulation with expanded clay. This method involves quite significant material costs, but this floor will be incredibly convenient and practical.
As for the installation of a wooden floor, it will not be difficult to lay it. To carry out this action, you only need small beams on which the floorboards will be attached. These beams should be laid on supports made of reinforced concrete or bricks. The thickness of such racks should be at least fifteen centimeters, the width of the platform under them should be seven centimeters larger than the supports.
The height should be equal to the height of the base edge: this applies only to the strip foundation. In the event that you choose the option with a columnar foundation, then the wooden beams should rest on the beams, and the top of those racks that play the role of supports should also coincide with the beams themselves. Before installation, these supports should be covered with waterproofing: glassine, bitumen, roofing felt or roofing felt are suitable for this purpose.
Then you need to start building the underground. If you have chosen the option with a leaking floor, then on the ground where the degree of absorption is high, then you will only need to pour crushed stone underground. In the event that moisture is poorly absorbed, then it is necessary to install a container for the drain: a kind of clay castle should be built on the ground at an angle.
If you preferred a non-leaking floor, then the subfloor should be reinforced with expanded clay, while fifteen centimeters should remain to the bars.
