We continue the conversation about how to make the floor in the bath.

Getting started - part 1.

The next stage in the construction of the floor for the bath will be the laying of the logs and the flooring of the boards. For a leaking floor, the logs can be laid from any wall, and for a leak-proof floor, the logs should be laid with a slope to the side. Next, you should go to the flooring of the boards. As for the leak-proof floor, you will need to equip the base floor, equipped with thermal and waterproofing. After that, tongue-and-groove boards will be attached to such a rough floor. The groove of the boards should be directed inside the bath, and fastening to the logs should be done with nails or wood grouse screws.

If you have chosen a leaking floor option, then laying the floor will not take much time and will not become very difficult. Saw the boards so that there is a gap of two centimeters between the boards and the wall. It is recommended to nail down the first floorboard with nails, which should be twice as thick as the boards. The floorboards must then be installed three centimeters apart.

Now it's time to talk about the concrete version of the bath floor. Such a floor has a number of undoubted advantages: first of all, concrete has a very long service life. Concrete will not rot, it is quite easy to care for it, and this material also tolerates high humidity and sudden temperature changes well.

The soil should be carefully tamped, form a cushion of crushed stone, which should be impregnated with bitumen. This is what will allow the crushed stone to withstand all the loads and distribute them evenly.

The main disadvantage of a concrete floor is that it is quite cold. However, insulation will allow you to cope with this problem. It is permissible to lay the base in two layers, and place thermal insulation between these layers. Or, you can equip a heat-insulating layer on top of the concrete floor, on which you can also equip a wood floor.

If you choose a double stacking of layers, then you will need to prepare a concrete solution. The lower layer will require the presence of large crushed stone fractions in the mixture. The thickness of such a layer should be approximately one hundred and fifty millimeters. If the bath is small in size, then the screed should be laid on the entire base.

As for the top layer, it will require a mixture of fines. The floor should be leveled with particular care and compacted very tightly. It should not be forgotten that concrete will gain its strength over several days. The concrete should be constantly looked after, it should not be allowed to dry out, and this surface should be moistened every day.

Whichever insulation option you choose, this layer must be applied to the waterproofing. For these purposes, roofing material or plastic wrap is most often used.

After the bottom layer dries up, you will need to do insulation. The following materials can be used as insulation: foam concrete, expanded polystyrene, mineral wool slabs, expanded clay gravel and sand. These materials are endowed with both advantages and disadvantages. However, most often summer residents prefer foam concrete.

New technologies are making it possible to lay concrete floors in other ways. For example, laying tiles is suitable, for this you do not have to form a second layer of concrete screed. After the layer of thermal insulation, waterproofing should be laid, a screed made of special cement is formed on top. Such cement should serve as an excellent base for a ceramic tile floor. The tiles should be glued onto a small layer of glue. This floor will serve you for a long time, pleasing with its attractive appearance. Among other things, the floor made of ceramic tiles will delight you with its unpretentious maintenance. Whichever floor option you choose, it is very important to follow all the recommendations, which will create a high-quality bath floor.
