Bath brooms are best prepared for future use, so that every time you go to the bath, you can enjoy its fragrant aroma and magical properties for the human body

Errors when preparing brooms

After repeated use, the service life of even the "right" broom is coming to an end. But sometimes it happens that after steaming once, the broom becomes unusable, the leaves fly around. This indicates technological errors in the manufacture of a bath broom. We will now consider such violations in the process of creating a broom:

1. The first link in the process of knitting a broom is the preparation of raw materials. Very often inexperienced bath attendants are mistaken with the timing of harvesting branches for the future broom. Time is an important parameter, too early or, on the contrary, late collection of materials for a broom will affect its quality. It is recommended to collect branches, focusing on the ripeness of the leaf, which usually depends on the weather and the type of tree. The optimal collection of mature branches for a broom is the end of June, while paying attention to the strength of the leaf, its aroma and color. Avid lovers of Russian baths prepare brooms based on their life experience.

2. The third most common mistake is drying branches in the sun. In an attempt to dry the broom faster, some people leave it to dry in the scorching rays of the sun. Of course, in this way, the broom dries quickly, but at the same time the leaves curl into a tube. And it is worth pouring boiling water over the broom, all the leaves remain at the bottom of the basin.

Drawing a conclusion, we can say that the broom should be dried slowly and only in the shade.

3. There is an opinion that the branches for a bath broom should be cut off after rain, when the leaves are washed with water from dust. However, this is not correct, the rain does not wash away harmful substances from the surface of the leaf, but can only add new ones. At home, it is also not worth washing branches for a broom. If you are afraid of possible dirt on the leaves, then just scald it with boiling water before using the broom and there is nothing to worry about.

How to steam a broom for a bath

The art of steaming a broom has its own nuances. The method of steaming depends on the dryness of the broom. Fresh brooms that have slightly dried up silt practically do not steam out, otherwise they will simply become limp, while they can become so hot that they leave a burn on the skin. Usually, such brooms should be kept in warm water for about three minutes and then used for their intended purpose. Only dry brooms need steaming in boiling water. For deciduous brooms we offer four steaming options:

1. The first method is the fastest, it is enough to lower the broom in cold water for 2 minutes, then in warm water for the same time, and then in hot water for 10-15 minutes, but not boiling water. As time passes, the broom will begin to exude a delicious scent. For this procedure, you can use any container, the most ideal option is a wooden barrel or a tub with a lid. After lowering the broom into hot water, cover the basin so that the broom “steamed” well.

2. If you want to make the broom flexible, then hold it for 15 minutes in cool water and then wrap it in a wet cloth for a couple of hours. This method keeps the leaves green and the branches fragrant and soft. The disadvantage of this method is that some of the nutrients will go into the water.

3. This method will be the most time consuming to prepare a broom for direct use. 10 hours before the bath, pour a broom with warm water, after boiling water, shake off the drops of water and place it in a plastic bag. Pour hot water over the broom before entering the steam room.

4. In the case of an overdried broom, it is first immersed in hot water for one minute, then the heater is placed on the stones.

A properly steamed broom will allow you to use it 3-4 times.

Use the water left over from steaming the broom to splash on the stove and the walls of the steam room. It is very good for washing your face, rinsing your hair and dousing your body.
