The emergent leaves of the water pine, eight to sixteen pieces, are located in contiguous whorls, such leaves can be both linear-lanceolate and lanceolate. The length of such leaves is one to four centimeters, while the width will be equal to half a centimeter. The aquatic pine leaves are located in spaced whorls, they will be deflected downward, are softer and rather thin, and the length of such leaves can reach eight centimeters. The flowers of this plant will be quite small in size, they are painted in green tones and are located in the axils of the emergent leaves. The watery pine cup is embryonic, while the corolla will be absent, and there will be only one stamen. The fruit of this plant is drupe-like in shape and endowed with a hard bone.
Water pine flowering occurs in the period from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in Central Asia, the Far East, Belarus, Ukraine, the European part of Russia, Western and Eastern Siberia. For growth, this plant prefers swamps, stagnant and shallow reservoirs, the shores of lakes and rivers, and besides that, it also prefers slowly flowing waters.
Description of the medicinal properties of water pine
The water pine is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the stems and leaves of this plant for medicinal purposes. The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content in the composition of this plant of alkaloids, the flavonoid kaempferol, scopoletin, coumarin, as well as ferulic and coffee phenol carboxylic acids. The stems, in turn, will contain the following anthocyanins: 3-monoglucoside and 3-cyanidin monogalactoside. Coumarins, coffee phenol carboxylic acid, as well as flavonoids in kaempferol hydrolyzate will be present in the leaves of the water pine.
This herb is endowed with highly effective anti-inflammatory, astringent and wound healing properties. For diarrhea, it is recommended to use an aqueous infusion based on water pine. A broth prepared on the basis of the herb of this plant is indicated for use as an antipyretic agent. As for the application as an external agent, then for this purpose the leaves and fresh crushed stems of the water pine are used. Such beneficial elements of this plant should be applied to bruised areas, as well as malignant and benign tumors.
For diarrhea, it is recommended to use the following very effective healing agent based on this plant: to prepare such a healing agent, you will need to take one tablespoon of fresh crushed stems with water pine leaves for one full glass of boiling water. The resulting healing mixture should first be left to infuse for about two hours, after which such a medicinal mixture based on this plant must be very thoroughly filtered. Take the resulting drug based on water pine three to four times a day, regardless of the meal, one tablespoon.
