Although, it would seem, why a stranger? It grows in many places, multiplies rapidly and occupies free space. In general, a weed is like a weed, no different from others. But, nevertheless, it is still worth paying attention to this nondescript grass, because it is a real treasure: it contains many vitamins, minerals, and it is also a medicine and an excellent natural cosmetic product

Briefly about woodlice

Woodlouse is its common name. In scientific circles, it is called the middle star and belongs to the clove family, although it is considered an ordinary weed. The middle star is an annual creeping plant, the stem length is rarely more than 30 centimeters, while the stem always lies on the ground. The leaves are small, ovoid, and slightly pointed at the ends. The flowering period of woodlice lasts all summer, it opens its buds from May to September. Small white flowers.

Woodlice grows almost everywhere: in orchards and vegetable gardens, in meadows, in the forest. But most of all he loves shady and wet areas: the banks of rivers and lakes, forests, streams, and so on.

How is it useful?

The benefit lies in a very high content of vitamins, including rare ones, and various useful substances. For example, woodlice contains a very rare vitamin K that regulates blood clotting. In addition, stellate is rich in vitamins E and C, minerals magnesium, iron, copper, cobalt, and also contains saponin, carotenes, ascorbic acid and flavonoids.

A little about harvesting grass

For medicinal use, during the flowering period, the entire part of the plant that is on the surface of the earth is collected. The grass is plucked, washed (you can not wash it, but I feel calmer if the grass is washed) and dried, periodically turning it from one side to the other for even drying and to avoid the appearance of mold or rot, indoors or outdoors under a canopy.

When and for what to use?

Stellate has a bile and diuretic, perfectly relieves various inflammations, that is, it belongs to anti-inflammatory drugs, and is also considered a powerful antiseptic. It is used to prevent and treat scurvy. Woodlice is good in treating pain during menstruation, helps with erosion of the cervix (for treatment, a tampon soaked in a decoction of woodlice is placed inside). In case of inflammation, including mastopathy, lotions are made from the infusion of woodlice on the inflamed surface. Stellate is also good in the treatment of vegetative-vascular dystonia, coronary heart disease.

By the way, woodlice is also used in agriculture, more precisely, in animal husbandry to increase milk yield in cattle.

How to prepare the medicine?

Infusion. The infusion is very easy to prepare: pour half a teaspoon of 70 ml of water, then insist overnight, filter and use before meals. The recipe contains a dosage for 1 dose. It is advisable to prepare a new portion of the medicine every time, if it does not work, then remember that the infusion is not stored in the refrigerator for more than 3 days! If you drink the medicine from the refrigerator, be sure to slightly warm it up!

Tincture. Preparation of this type of medicine will take 14 days, but the tincture is a more economical option, it is concentrated and used in drops. To obtain a tincture, 3 tablespoons of dry or 6 tablespoons of fresh chopped herbs, pour 250 ml of water, then place in any cold place for 2 weeks, do not touch, do not stir, do not shake in the process. It is applied every day in the amount of 20 drops.

Broth. 50 gr. raw materials, dry, pour a glass of water, simmer over low heat or a water bath for about ten minutes, then cool and strain. Ready.

Contraindications

But please, be careful with this nondescript but so healthy herb. It has contraindications. In what cases is its use undesirable? You should not be treated with woodlice while carrying a baby and during breastfeeding, and also give up this herb if your blood pressure is not in order. When picking, pay attention to where the stellate grows, as the grass collected on calcareous soils can cause a strong allergic reaction.
