I would like to give some good advice on the construction and arrangement of a bathhouse in a summer cottage. After all, a lot depends on how correctly the type of its foundation is laid and selected, right up to the design of the porch - how long the bathhouse will serve its owners, whether it will not dampen it, whether it will not become a special place of attraction for prying eyes from the street, and so on

Advice 1. The most important thing is that the bath does not get damp and that it is well ventilated after using it. To do this, initially, when building it, you need to choose the correct type of foundation. The bath does not require a solid foundation, which is needed for a country house or a country cottage. You can use a pile foundation in its construction. Concrete piles should only be placed on a wider "pillow" than usual. Piles should be placed on each half meter of the bath perimeter.

Tip 2. Place stones between the piles of the foundation or cover them with a decorative lattice. The pile foundation, moreover, fits very well in that place on the summer cottage where the relief is uneven.

Tip 3. In the space between the piles of the basement of the bath, you can store firewood for it, as well as many household belongings, for example, irrigation hoses. There is never dampness, but there is a "roof" and cover from the wind and snow drifts. The pile foundation well protects the bath itself from dampness.

Tip 4. In the place where the washing department of the bath is planned, a hole should be dug. It is not necessary to do a large one. Literally a meter deep. Fill it with fine gravel.

Tip 5. In order for the water to drain into this prepared hole, the following methods can be applied. For example, do not insulate the floor in the bathhouse and install floorboards with a slight, almost imperceptible slope to drain water through it into the pit. In this case, the water outlet must be made directly above the hole itself. But in winter, in such a bath, it will blow slightly under your feet. Another option is boards raised at the edges and fixed on the crossbar. This way they will lie on the floor in the shape of a bow, but not too curved. That is, the water should flow, as it were, to the center of the washing room. And the tilt will not be felt too much in this version, and it will not be slippery. And the third most convenient and simple option is to make several round polished holes in even boards and water will go through them. The remnants of moisture that has not gone away after everyone has washed in the bath must be collected with a mop and a sponge.

Tip 6. Make an entrance to the steam room, if it is provided for in your sauna project - through the washing room. And the last thing. So that there is no excessive dampness in the bath - after application, simply open all its doors - from the steam room or soaked, prop them up with something outside. In this case, the bath will dry out in thirty minutes. And of course, do not forget, especially in cold weather, to blot after yourself with a mop and a dry cloth or sponge the remnants of moisture from its floor.

Tip 7. In order not to arouse the curiosity of neighbors and those who will walk along the dacha street past your site by improper arrangement of the bath, the bath should initially be correctly oriented and planned on the terrain. Place the bathhouse in the depths of the site, with its front part looking at the reservoir in which you are going to plunge, leaving it, or place it “looking” into the forest, at the trees around the summer cottage. That is, so that its entrance is not visible from everywhere.

Tip 8. Cut through very small windows in the bath, on its upper part. It would be nice to put opaque heat-resistant frosted glass on the windows.

Tip 9. Place a bench on the sauna porch. You can relax on it at the next exit from the bath, sit, covered with a towel. On the sauna porch, in order to avoid dampness, you should also not fit the boards tightly. Then they will not rot and will dry out quickly.

And the last thing. I would like to remind you of the main stages of building a bath in a summer cottage, which must be carried out in the following mandatory order: laying the foundation, erecting walls, interfloor floors (if the bath is planned for two floors), erecting a roof, insulating the walls and floor in the bath, finishing the bath outside, installation of a stove, chimney, erection of flooring, doors, windows, installation of a bench in the dressing room and a table, shelves inside the bath, if you need a shower compartment or a font. Have a nice couple after visiting your own Russian bath.
