Description of the spreading hermit
The spreading rush is a herbaceous perennial. This plant can very often be found both on wet and on swampy soils in central Russia. The plant is endowed with a creeping and dense rhizome. The stem of this plant is cylindrical as well as hard and smooth. It is worth noting that in a dry state, the stem of this plant will be thinly grooved, and the height of this stem will be about fifty centimeters - one and a half meters. At the base, the stem will be wrapped in a bright brown sheath. Most often, several stems will depart from the rhizome, which form a bunch. The flowers of the spreading rump are regular and solitary, they are on elongated peduncles, which gather in a spreading panicle. The perianth of this plant is corolla-shaped, it will consist of six leaves, linear-lanceolate in shape and greenish in color, endowed with a rusty rim. The flowering of the broad-leaved rush occurs in the period from June to July.
The fruit of this plant is a brownish obovate capsule. This type of rump has become quite widespread throughout the European part of Russia, with the exception of only the southeastern regions. The plant is very often found in wetland cultivated lands, namely in meadows and arable lands.
