In a fit of creative enthusiasm, the Almighty created a wide variety of plant species of the Palm family. Although the palm tree is usually associated with a warm climate, there are species that can withstand temperatures as low as minus 12 degrees. But, perhaps, one of the most valuable among relatives is the Date palm, the fruits of which are called "bread of the desert"
Gourmet fruit
Most of the Date Palm species are famous for their fruits, which hang in huge clusters from under the openwork palm branches during ripening. Dates do not require any processing, like many other fruits, since they are on a palm tree until the southern hot sun turns them into ready-made dried fruits. A person can only remove them from the tree, or pick up fallen fruits from the ground, or rather, from the sand.
Dates are one of the oldest food products. During archaeological excavations in India, dating back to the 7th millennium BC, their traces are found. That is, the ancient people were much smarter than their descendants, when they introduced the fruits of the date palm into their diet, without waiting for the prompts of Allah. And they did not know about the existence of Allah yet.
The benefits of God's gift
Only in the 7th century AD, when Allah decided to announce his existence to people, he, through the prophet Muhammad (Mohamed, Mohammed - whoever is closer in sound) gave people instructions on how they should behave in life, and at the same time gave a lot of advice, not bypassing dates.
Apparently, repenting that he had punished women too severely for natural curiosity with the pain of childbirth, he tries to smooth out his guilt through the Koran and recommends that pregnant women be sure to include dates in their diet, in which he put in such substances that will ease the pain of a woman in childbirth, and will also help to form in a woman's breast milk necessary for feeding a newborn.
Surprisingly, it was only in the 20th century that scientists experimentally confirmed the value of dates for childbirth, discovering in their composition a chemical called "oxytocin" that can increase the contraction of the muscles of the uterus.
But dates are useful not only for women in labor. This unique fruit is the leader among all fruits in terms of fructose content, which is easily absorbed by the human body.
While the Russian hermits had to feed on despair, the first persecuted Christians went into the deserts and ate only dates and spring water. For example, St. Onuphrius, the Egyptian hermit, ate this way for 60 years.
In addition to sucrose, what the Creator did not include in the composition of dates: these are vitamins A, B1, B2; these are macro and microelements; and even protein, free of bad cholesterol and toxins, unlike the protein in meat products.
Such a composition of dates is simply irreplaceable when a person needs to recuperate after a long illness. Dates will help protect the kidneys from the formation of stones; calm down the cough; strengthen the nervous system; help your brain think better.
A warning
Despite the uniqueness, dates
can and do harm people suffering from diabetes mellitus, accumulated excess body fat, or who managed to spoil their stomach and intestines with poor nutrition or nervous disorders.
Bisexual plant
If you suddenly decide to grow dates, you will have to plant at least two palms, since they are divided into male and female.
Palm Sunday
On a Christian holiday celebrated in Russia as Palm Sunday, when people decorate their homes with pussy willow branches, in Egypt, for example, date palm branches are used instead of pussy willow.
It was the branches of the palm tree that people put on the road, welcoming Jesus Christ entering Jerusalem, riding on a donkey. Since palm trees are not to our climate, we had to replace them with willow branches, which bloom in early spring, when Easter and the Sunday preceding it are celebrated.
