The main reasons for the lack of flowering in hazel grouses
The first reason why the hazel grouse planted in the garden does not regret blooming is the age and quality of the planting material. The bulb of the plant ripens for a rather long period. And in order for the hazel grouse to finally bloom, it must increase its mass and become about 7-8 cm in size. When the grower decides to save money when choosing and buying a bulb and takes planting material that is smaller and cheaper, then he must be ready for the fact that for a few more years he will have to grow the bulb on his site until it has the qualities necessary for flowering.
Another common reason for the lack of flowering of hazel grouses in your flower beds is too shallow planting. The depth of the hole for planting hazel grouse is easily calculated mathematically - it should be three bulb heights. That is, for a 7-8 cm bulb, this will be about 25 cm.
Grouse storage rules
After the hazel grouses have faded, the green mass adorns the owner's site of the suburban area with a lush bush for a long time. Around the second half of June, the leaves begin to turn yellow. This is a natural process and a signal to the grower that it is time to dig up the perennial and put it away for storage.
It is recommended to store planting material in conditions as close as possible to their natural habitat. And this is a dry and warm place, these gorgeous flowers in their homeland are used to this climate. Leaving them in the open ground in the summer, in our latitudes they will certainly be subject to unexpected cold snaps, then get wet under heavy rains, and this will become another negative factor that will affect the absence of flowering next year, since the flower bud is not laid. Therefore, experts insist that the hazel grouse be dug up and stored at a temperature of about +30? C.
Breeding methods for hazel grouses
Buying imperial hazel grouse bulbs is not cheap. And the desire of flower growers to propagate them on their own is understandable. It is quite possible to do it on your own, but you need to be patient.
At the end of June, the top of the plant is decorated with an exquisite box in which the seeds ripen. They are capable of ripening and can be sown. But, like other bulbous plants, seed propagation is a very lengthy process. The onion from the seed develops for a very long time. And the first bud can be expected only after about 7 years, until it reaches the required size - at least 7 cm.
If you already breed hazel grouses on your site, then you should know that babies on bulbs are very reluctant to develop. And the fastest and most effective way to reproduce a flower is to divide the old bulb into several parts. But in this case, flowering from each plot will have to wait for several years.
A more gentle way is not to cut the onion into several separate parts at once, but when planting in a flower garden in September, cut the bottom and place a small section of coal in this crack so that it does not overgrow, but also does not rot. So the process of forming children will go faster.
