A modest forget-me-not with a delicate heavenly color has a very rich history in the legends and myths of peoples professing the Christian religion. She symbolizes such aspects of love as memory and devotion. In addition, the plant has been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times

Legends of forget-me-not

Forget-me-not is my mother's favorite flower, who passed on this love to me. I have long wanted to write about her, but it seemed to me that the modesty of the flower is so great that the information is unlikely to be of interest to many. Having started collecting material about forget-me-not, I was pleasantly surprised by its popularity among peoples with the leading Christian religion.

There are so many legends that it is simply not realistic to tell about all of them. Almost every nation in Europe has its own legends and one holiday a year dedicated to this flower. All legends, having different details, are basically similar to each other. The flowers symbolize the tears of a blue-eyed girl who has lost her beloved. The death of a young man is often very ridiculous. Trying to pick a blue flower, which has liked his girlfriend, the guy climbs the steep cliffs or tries to overcome the swamp and dies, having time to throw the flower to the girl at the last second with the words: "Do not forget me!"

After reading about seven similar legends, I made a conclusion for myself that it is not worth putting the life of a loved one for the sake of a flower at risk, no matter how extraordinary it is. Therefore, my dear haciendochki, if my husband does not like to take part in the arrangement of flower beds in the country, let him lie in a hammock. In my opinion, a living husband in a hammock is better than flowers watered with tears. (I may have misunderstood all these legends).

There are several legends when forget-me-not is brought together with God. Its blue color should remind people of God, motivating them to peer into the heavens more often, checking their actions against God's commandments.

Well, and very simple legends, in which on the day of assigning names to earthly flowers, when all the names have already been used, a crying modest blue flower appears. God looks at him fatherly (or motherly) affectionately and says: "And you will be called" forget-me-not "!"
