Juicy and appetizing irga, the favorite of many of us, also sometimes suffers from ailments. In addition to birds that actively feed on even unripe berries, as well as domestic animals that feed a passion for young twigs and leaves of irgi, various pests with diseases also attack it. Despite the fact that the irga is relatively resistant to all kinds of fungal ailments, it is still not possible to completely avoid infection with this culture. How to understand what exactly your favorite trees are affected by?
Gray rot
With the onset of autumn, rather large vague brownish specks with a pronounced zoning begin to form on the old leaves of the irgi. As the harmful misfortune develops, they grow and begin to cover most of the leaf blades. Leaves affected by gray rot turn yellow, dry out and quickly fall off. And if humid weather sets in, the infected areas will be additionally tightened with a fluffy grayish-brown bloom, consisting of harmful mycelium and pathogenic spores, which re-infect the rest of the leaves with lightning speed. If the summer turns out to be not only rainy, but also cold enough, the unfortunate ailment will quite strongly affect the berries.
All fallen berries with leaves attacked by this scourge must be collected and destroyed as quickly as possible. Spraying using the Vectra preparation will also serve well in the fight against this infection.
Tuberculariosis
Behind such an interesting name is the well-known drying out of the branches. This disease is characterized by the rapid re-infection of berry trees, and red currant acts as the primary source of infection. At the beginning of summer, the leaflets on the trees begin to turn brown and dry, and individual branches of the irgi wither and also often dry out. And closer to the end of summer, characteristic reddish tubercles are formed on infected shoots of irgi - this is how the sporulation of the fungus looks like. It was during this period that a new stage in the spread of harmful fungal spores began.
Irgi shoots attacked by tuberculariosis should be removed and burned. In addition, in early spring, berry bushes are sprayed with copper sulfate. Not bad help to cope with the disease and multiple treatments with one percent Bordeaux liquid, carried out according to the following scheme: before flowering - at the end of flowering - at the end of the harvest - optional treatment in case of a particularly severe lesion.
Ascochitous spot
The leaves of the diseased irga are covered with reddish-ocher specks that differ in an irregular or rounded shape. Such spots usually do not have any bordering. After a while, they begin to slowly grow and merge, while the drying sheet tissue cracks and falls out. The leaves attacked by a malicious scourge are deformed and, drying out, begin to fall off prematurely. As a result of the defeat of ascochitous spotting, the decorativeness and frost resistance of berry bushes are noticeably reduced.
It is recommended to treat infected irgi bushes with copper oxychloride or Bordeaux liquid, carrying out such treatments not only before flowering, but also immediately after its completion. And with the onset of autumn, it is necessary to eliminate all fallen leaves from the plots.
Phylostictic leaf spot
In the midst of summer, rather large spots of brownish-brownish shades can be seen on the leaves of the irgi. All of them differ either in an irregular or rounded shape, and are equipped with yellowish halos and thin edges. The surfaces of the infected tissues quickly become covered with punctate black fruit bodies. Severely affected leaves almost always dry out and fall off.
Phyllostic spotting should be dealt with in the same way as with ascochitous spotting.
