Many people love raspberries very much - they are widely used in folk medicine, and it is unlikely that anyone will refuse to eat a handful of fragrant berries just like that. This amazing berry is famous for its anti-inflammatory, anti-toxic and antipyretic properties. Raspberries are also great for helping to cope with bad moods and fatigue. Of course, it's a sin not to buy such a healthy berry! But how to store it? It's time to figure it out

We buy or collect raspberries

On sale you can find two types of raspberries: garden and forest. The most fragrant and healing one is, of course, forest raspberry, and such a berry is stored better. But garden raspberries are much sweeter, and they also have a number of medicinal properties.

The most useful will be domestic seasonal raspberries - berries brought from abroad often contain an impressive amount of preservatives, so they can hardly be called healthy.

When buying raspberries, it is important to make sure that all the berries are dry, without the slightest traces of pests or mold. In addition, the berries should not be crushed or give the impression of withering. Ideally, they should all be evenly colored and not have greenish or black blotches.

If you plan to pick raspberries in your own garden, you need to do this only in dry weather, putting the berries in a dry and clean container. And before sending the berries to the container, they are freed from the stalks.

How to store

Raspberries are very tender and extremely vulnerable. This applies not only to its transportation, but also to storage - the raspberries that gave the juice deteriorate at an incredible speed.

It is best to store raspberries in the refrigerator - there they can easily be stored for several days. At the same time, it is recommended to place it on the middle shelf. Raspberries are especially well stored if they are laid out in one row, and then covered with paper or some other material on top. If the berries are planned to be placed in a dish, you must first make sure that it is dry. Also, when sending raspberries for storage in the refrigerator, it is important to remember that they perfectly absorb any extraneous odors.

At a temperature of about twenty degrees, fresh raspberries can last no more than eight hours. The most ideal temperature for storing it is considered to be four to five degrees.

Raspberries are washed only immediately before use or before processing. If you ignore this rule, the berries will quickly turn sour - wet raspberries are completely unsuitable for storage.

After heat treatment, raspberries also do not lose their useful properties, so you can safely cook from this wonderful berry and jam. In this form, raspberries are stored the longest. And you can rub raspberries with sugar - they will also turn out to be very tasty.

Dry raspberries

Fragrant raspberries can always be dried - either in a dryer or in the sun in a natural way. In a dryer, raspberries are dried until completely dry, and naturally - for about a week. And in fact, and in another case, the berries should not touch each other.

Dried raspberries are packaged in paper bags or sterile jars, however, if they are not available, you can also use cellophane. And it is recommended to store this delicacy in the pantry or in some other place characterized by low humidity. By the way, dried raspberries can be stored very easily for up to two years.

Freeze raspberries

Raspberries are also often frozen (ideally in vacuum containers). To keep the berries fresh for about a year, it is best to resort to the "shock freezing" method - quick freezing saves all vitamins, and the taste of defrosted berries is practically no different from the taste of fresh ones.

To freeze raspberries in this way, they must be placed in a special chamber, the temperature in which is in the range from minus twenty-five to minus forty degrees. Since the berries in this case freeze instantly, the structure of their cells does not have time to collapse. And then the frozen raspberries are transferred to storage in a freezer with a higher temperature.
