Not only vegetable crops are found in the beds of summer residents. Many gardeners pay special attention to flowers. Petunias grow in almost every area. But there are certain types of it that are more attractive and spectacular. For example, they include frillithunia - an elegant flower with a ruffle edge near the flowers in the form of a gramophone. The frillitunia flower is a type of hybrid petunia that blooms during the summer. By the way, another hybrid of calibrachoa petunias is the complete opposite of frillithunia. For example, they have smaller flowers than the large petunias and are more hardy. Frillithunium bushes are a dense crown with bright, but at the same time laconic green foliage. The shrub looks neat and dense. The highest height that this plant can reach is forty centimeters. This flower looks great even in an ampel, although one cannot expect chic cascades there. Most of all frillitunium in this case looks like a pillow or a hemisphere.
The main advantage of the flower is the beautiful shape of the inflorescences, reminiscent of the appearance of a gramophone. In their diameter, these plant elements look like a funnel. The corolla is solid, and the dark throat of the plant is ten centimeters in size. In addition, the rim around the edges is trimmed with details in the form of ruffles, which gives the frillithunium look of tenderness and romance. The flowers of the plant themselves seem to be decorated with lace.
The varieties and color variations of frillitunium do not yet have a rich spectrum. Most often, these flowers can be found in gardens in pink, purple, cherry or white colors. But the color itself is very pure here and is not diluted with other shades. The plant begins to flow into the flowering phase in the first summer month. Moreover, this period does not depend on the time at which the flower was planted. However, sometimes frillitunium begins to bloom a little later. The plant will delight its owner with its beauty until the first snowball falls.
Frillitunia and its varieties
In fact, all types of frillithunia have only one aspect of the difference - this is color. Since there are not so many of them, the varieties themselves exist in small numbers, but every year the breeders bring out more and more new varieties of the flower. White frillithunias belong to the "Snowflake" variety. Dark red colors are inherent in the "Red Crinoline" variety. Interesting shades of violet, lilac and purple can be found in Express Ruby, Brazilian Carnival, Carnival and Burgundy. The rest of the varieties have all kinds of shades of pink.
Rarely, but still there are heterogeneous shades in frillithunias. But it also depends on the growing conditions. As a rule, in such a situation, strokes or specks in white tones are formed on a pure color. Also in flower shops you can sometimes see a mixture of varieties - such as "Daiquiri" or "Inspiration".
Frillitunia as a garden decoration
To achieve the large size of frillitunia, breeders crossed a wide variety of petunias. However, during such procedures, frillitunium lost the stamina that is inherent in its closest relative. Thus, the flower became most susceptible to cloudy weather, rains and strong winds. Any unprotected place will become an unfavorable factor for frillithunia. Therefore, in the design of a garden plot, it is not possible to use such a plant everywhere. Very rarely, such crops are planted in the open air. But if this happens, then, as a rule, on island flower beds under awnings or in terraces. Frillithunias also look beautiful in borders, although they can rarely be seen there. Typically, such a flower is used as a container grown plant. In this case, when planting a petunia hybrid in a pot, the flower on the site will be able to overshadow all other crops with its brightness.
In the form of ampels, it is not recommended to apply frillithunias from the corners of the house or in areas where there is no protection in the form of a roof, and the plant will not be saved from the variability of weather conditions. Such plants are specially created for terraces and verandas. They also look attractive in gazebos and on leisure areas.
In good weather, containers with frillitunia can be exposed to the sun, and even used at this moment in flower compositions. But as soon as the weather begins to deteriorate, the plant must be taken back indoors.
