With the arrival of spring, not only rooms of an apartment or house, but also indoor plants need general harvesting. After the long winter months, they need a thorough inspection and cleaning. How to do it correctly?

As soon as spring comes, many housewives who grow houseplants begin to put their green pets in order. Indeed, during the long winter quarters, a lot of dust accumulated on them, from which they managed to lose their original appearance. And this despite the fact that they were watered all the time and sprayed regularly.

After the onset of warm weather, the hostesses get down to business so that their plants acquire bright colors and decorate the house with their healthy look. In order to revitalize and renew plants, you must follow the following recommendations of specialists.

1. Preparing indoor plants for cleaning

First, you need to take the plants out into fresh air if the day is warm and sunny. Most often, indoor plants are tropical varieties, which are destructively affected by low air temperatures. Inhabitants of the northern regions, in which spring comes late, the procedure for cleaning flowers from dust can be carried out by transferring them to the bathroom or shower stall.

To carry out the necessary manipulations, you need to stock up on:

* syringe, * bottle with soapy water, * clean rags or sponges, * hose or watering can.

Using a mild, soapy water solution will not only help clean your plants. It will wash off soft-bodied insects that could start in flowers in the winter.

2. Carrying out pruning of plants

It is recommended in the spring to get rid of the leaves that have died during the winter and cut uneven stems. It is necessary to pinch off the ends of the stems so that the plants do not stretch, but take a more rounded shape. At the same time, it is important to preserve and root the cuttings for the subsequent appearance of new plants.

3. Washing plants from accumulated dust

Dusty plants are cleaned in the following sequence:

* Spraying using a spray or soap solution that is sprayed onto leaves on both sides and stems. Little helpers - children, especially girls, will gladly cope with such work. And it will be interesting for the boys to “work with a spray gun”.

* Cleaning leaves from dust. It is necessary to wipe the leaves of large plants. For these purposes, a soft cloth or sponge is taken.

* Rinsing is the easiest way to clean plants. You can use conventional sprayers, showers, or a soapy watering can. Plants are washed thoroughly so that no soap, dust and insects are left on them. After that, they need to be well watered.

* Drying of plants - they must dry naturally, for which it is better to leave the plants in slightly shaded places, rather than in the open sun.

4. Getting rid of plants from insects

It is useful to rid the flower of various small insects that have accumulated on it during the winter. For this you need:

1. Lower the plant with its tip into a bucket in which a soapy water solution is poured. In this case, the water should cover the pot along with the soil. If the plant is small, it is completely submerged in water.

2. It is better to keep the plant in soapy water for about half an hour. If there are insects in it, they will soon float up and find themselves on the surface of the water.

3. Remove the plant from the solution, gently wipe the leaves with a soft cloth and let it dry in a sunny and well-ventilated place.

In this way, you can rid plants of almost any pests that have chosen the plant or the land in which it is planted.

5. Top dressing of indoor plants

After washing the plants, you need to introduce spring feeding into the soil so that they grow or bloom better. If necessary, you can completely replace the soil in pots. Or not to change the soil, but to introduce organic fertilizers into it, which will allow the plants to receive all the trace elements and vitamins they need. A beautiful layer of mulch will complete the spring makeover of houseplants.
