In central Russia, pepper is often cultivated in the open field. To start such cultivation, you need to prepare the land for planting crops. This process is required to start from the autumn of the previous year, especially if the land on the site is not fertile in itself. For preparation, fertilize the soil with organic products. Both manure and compost are suitable, which need to be calculated in the amount of eight to ten kilograms per square meter. With mineral preparations in the form of superphosphate, everything is different. You can make them even at the beginning of the spring period. In each hole for planting pepper, it is required to add about a liter of rotted manure and a teaspoon of nitroammophoska, mixing well with the ground.

The timing of planting pepper in open ground

The optimal time for planting peppers in open beds will be late spring or early summer, but the peculiarities of the regions with respect to climatic conditions play an important role here. The most important thing here is to take into account that the earth has already warmed up to at least ten or fifteen degrees. The air should have warmed up to almost twenty degrees by this time. And, of course, it is better to plant peppers when the risk of frost is practically excluded.

How to plant peppers outdoors?

For varieties whose bushes are of high growth, a large distance must be observed between plant specimens. Each hole must be watered abundantly and thoroughly, spending about one and a half liters of water per hole. The pepper sprouts themselves will need to be planted in the resulting liquid soil. To do this, you do not need to place the roots too deeply, since additional processes from the root will form in any case. At the same time, the roots of the plant must be handled as carefully as possible so as not to cause damage and injury to them.

Plants from boxes of soil to open beds must be transferred along with a small amount of soil from their original location. This will help reduce the risk of root damage and allow the peppers to adapt more quickly in the garden. The holes should be covered with dry soil, after which mulching is carried out using any material. You can leave small depressions near each culture without completely filling the holes. Then from above it is necessary to cover the pepper bushes with straw. The planting of pepper occurs in the amount of two rows. The length can be any. But it is important to keep the plants very easy to cover.

How to care for outdoor peppers?

After the pepper sprouts are in the open air, cover the seedlings with any material, but not cloth. However, the film should not always be used. It is usually used only at cold air temperatures. With the help of non-woven material, plants can be protected not only from frost and precipitation, but also from hot sunlight, which can provoke burns on the leaves of pepper.

When growing sweet peppers, the temperature and humidity conditions must be observed. Degrees can vary from fifteen to thirty. Otherwise, you can notice either the falling of the ovaries and inflorescences, or the presence of small fruits of the wrong appearance. Too high humidity causes the death of pollen, and the fruit stops setting. Strong and frequent temperature changes negatively affect the amount of the crop.
