Plum rust affects not only plum trees, but also apricot, cherry plum, almond, peach and blackthorn. The winter hardiness of diseased trees is markedly reduced, and in general they look strongly weakened. And the drying leaves fall off prematurely. The high temperature of the air, together with its high humidity, greatly contribute to the rapid development of rust. Most often, you can face such a nuisance in the European part of Russia, or rather, in its southern regions
A few words about the disease
When damaged by rust, small and angular brownish specks are formed between the veins of plum leaves. This usually happens closer to the middle of summer, and closer to its end, on the spots one can already observe "pads" of dark shades.
As a rule, the pads of summer fungal sporulation consist of urediniospores, which are ellipsoidal or ovoid, strongly thickened at the apexes, and equipped with finely spiny membranes. And after some time, teliospores, the pads of winter mushroom spores of darker shades, begin to appear among the urediniospores. Teliospores are also usually spiny, rounded at the tips, slightly taut and dark brown in color.
Plum rust is caused by a common rust fungus called Tranzschelia prunispinosae. Its wintering takes place in the form of teliospores on infected fallen leaves. And with the onset of spring, germinating teliospores form basidiospores, which infect anemone.
It is impossible not to mention that the development of harmful rust is directly related to perennial anemone - it is on it that the fungus goes through all stages of development before it reaches the plum. It hibernates most often in the rhizomes of this plant. On an infected anemone in the spring, you can even see its spores - they have the shape of funny yellow "glasses" and are mostly on the lower sides of the leaves.
Among the plum varieties most severely affected by rust, it should be noted such as Renklod Altana, Vengerka Azhanskaya, Vengerka Italianskaya, Victoria and Vengerka ordinary. Renclaude reform, Renclaude Ullena and Ugorka Oposhnyanskaya are characterized by medium susceptibility. And Renclaude Green and Anna Spett are the least affected by rust.
How to fight
The fallen leaves should be regularly raked and burned, and the soil under the fruit trees should be well dug up. Also, it is necessary to eliminate the anemone from the gardens, since, once infected, it turns into a constant source of infection.
Periodically growing fruit trees should be fertilized with potash and phosphorus fertilizers, as well as all kinds of trace elements. But it is desirable to reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilization.
A good helper in the fight against such an unpleasant ailment as rust will be one percent Bordeaux liquid (for ten liters of water - 100 g), as well as a number of other fungicides. As a substitute for Bordeaux liquid, a suspension of colloidal sulfur or "Tsineb" is perfect. Copper oxychloride, "Captan" and "Hometsin" will also come in handy. As soon as the first signs of a harmful misfortune begin to appear (most often this happens closer to the middle of summer), the first treatment is carried out, and all subsequent spraying is carried out at an interval of fifteen to twenty days. However, it is important not to forget that the last treatment should be carried out no later than three weeks before the start of the harvest.
Alternatively, multiple spraying with one percent Bordeaux liquid can be replaced with the so-called "blue" spraying with a three percent solution. It should be carried out at the stage of swelling of the kidneys, accompanied by one or two additional sprays with a suspension of colloidal sulfur or a solution of the above-mentioned "Tsineba".

How To Remove Rust From An Ax?
Axes, just like any other gardening tool, also tend to rust from time to time - especially often when they are not stored properly. However, do not rush to throw away the rusted tool - it is quite possible to clean almost any ax of rust and safely continue to use it further! How can this be done, and how difficult is it?
Mallow Rust
Rust is one of the most harmful and widespread diseases of beautiful mallow. Rust is especially common in the second half of the growing season. True, in some years, the manifestation of this unfortunate misfortune can be observed already in the third decade of May (most often this occurs in the Ukrainian forest-steppe). The second year mallow is most affected. If you do not start to fight rust in time, you will obviously not have to rejoice in beautiful flowers for a long time
How To Get Rid Of Rust On Garden Tools?
Not a single summer resident can do without good garden tools. If you learn to take care of him properly, he can serve for more than a dozen years! And if you neglect proper care, then under the influence of various atmospheric phenomena, garden tools can easily become rusty. However, coping with it is also quite realistic, the main thing is to know how exactly this can be done! And this can be done in several different ways
Gooseberry And Currant Goblet Rust
Gooseberry rust affects gooseberries and currants the most. Initially, it develops on sedge, on which the pathogen fungus overwinters, and from which spores are subsequently transferred by the wind to gooseberries and currants. With a sufficiently strong lesion with this ailment, half (or even more) of the berries often fall off, and the shrubs themselves lose from 40 to 78 percent of the leaves
Diseases And Pests Of Plum: Plum Gall Mite
The plum gall mite causes irreparable harm to the plum with thorns. However, almonds and peaches often suffer from its invasions. Near the bases of the shoots of the first and second years, reddish-brown galls gradually form, subsequently acquiring the same shade as the shoot bark. Gradually growing together, the galls fold into rather large growths, inside which ticks quickly settle. Often, in the habitats of these harmful insects, the yield is halved. And with the secondary
