Persian chamomile is distinguished by its unpretentiousness to growing conditions. With due attention, she will thank the hostess with a long, abundant flowering, brightness of colors. What agricultural techniques will help achieve positive results?
Landing
Before laying a flower garden, rotted manure or compost is scattered over the surface, complex fertilizer is added to nitroammofosk. They dig shovels onto a bayonet, picking out the roots of malicious weeds: wheatgrass, yellow, pink sow thistles, field loach.
On wet substrates at a depth of 25-30 cm, drainage is arranged from broken clay shards, brick chips, pebbles or expanded clay. The next layer is poured into river sand. Then the fertile soil is returned to its place, completely filling the hole.
In the middle of the prepared area, a 10 cm depression is made. Spill it with water. Place the plant by spreading the roots. Sprinkle gently with earth, trying not to deepen the bases of the stems. Compress the substrate from all sides. From above, mulch with a layer of sawdust, peat or rotten grass. The distance between neighbors is maintained within 30-40 cm (depending on the variety, growth power).
Care
With prolonged drought, feverfew needs regular watering. Once a month, the bushes are fed with a complex fertilizer "Kemira", "Zdraven" or "Ideal". The drug is diluted according to the instructions.
In open areas, with a strong gust of wind, tall specimens can lie down. Next to the plants, small supports made of green wire with a ring in the upper part or ordinary wooden pegs with ties are installed.
In a timely manner, several times during the season, they weed the plantings from weeds, loosen the ground around the bushes. After flowering, dried baskets are removed. Some specimens may bloom again closer to autumn.
Own seeds
The seeds are harvested at the stage of full ripeness. By this time, the flower dries up completely, turns into a dark brown tone. In the daytime with dry sunny weather, the heads are cut off with a pruner with an adjacent piece of the stem.
Placed on a newspaper in a dry place. Fully ripe grains are easily poured out of the receptacle. Separate petals and other debris from the seeds. Packed in paper bags, signing the name of the variety, the year of collection.
Pyrethrum seeds remain viable for 2-3 years.
Terry varieties rarely set seeds. If the result is positive, they do not give offspring with pronounced signs of the parents.
Diseases
Persian chamomile is rarely affected by disease. Of the possible options, with improper agricultural technology, gray rot or fusarium disease may appear. With a weak lesion, it is enough to treat the plants with copper-containing preparations: Hom, Bordeaux mixture. With a strong spread of infection, remove diseased bushes completely from the site, along with the roots.
Pests
The main pests of the juicy greens of Persian chamomile are naked slugs. The wormwood smell does not stop lovers to feast on young sprouts.
Night traps help to fight them:
1. Beer diluted liquid. Low bowls of solution are distributed next to the plants. The brew drink attracts snails. Having tasted the "treat", they die over time.
2. Shelters. Next to the plantings at night, pieces of planks or pieces of slate are installed. In the morning, pests hide from direct sunlight under protection. Collected in a jar with subsequent destruction.
3. Rough obstacles. The delicate body of slugs does not like irritating surfaces. Sprinkle the ground with crushed coal, fresh sawdust, crushed eggshells.
Chemicals are used in the last turn when mechanical methods have not given the desired effect. Thunderstorm and Ulicid preparations are scattered on the flowerbed.
Armed with the knowledge, you can safely proceed to the acquisition of planting material, the placement of plants on the site. The creation of flower arrangements with pyrethrum will bring a festive atmosphere to every day. The sunny mood will not leave you even in cloudy weather!
