Having collected a good collection of pyrethrum, you can start breeding your favorite specimens in order to arrange beautiful flower beds around the house. What methods of increasing planting stock are applicable to Persian chamomile?

Breeding types

Favorite plants are propagated in several ways:

β€’ seed;

β€’ vegetative (root cuttings, dividing the bush).

Feverfew is a cross-pollinated crop, therefore, when sowing seeds of its own collection, a mixture of different colors is obtained, sometimes far from the maternal forms.

The vegetative method completely preserves the hereditary characteristics. Terry varieties are divided only in the second way.

Seed method

The grains do not need stratification. Persian chamomile is sown directly into the ground in early spring after the snow melts. Humus is added to the garden bed; on heavy soils, a little river sand. They dig shovels onto the bayonet, removing the roots of malicious weeds. Cut grooves every 20 cm with a depth of 0.5-0.7 cm. Spill with potassium permanganate. The seeds are laid out, setting a distance in a row of 3-4 cm. They are covered with loose soil, they press the earth with their hand.

Cover with a small piece of film through the arcs. Watered once a week. Seedlings appear in 7-10 days. At first, young growth is raised under a shelter. Then it is gradually removed, accustoming the plants to dry air.

Once a month a table spoon without a slide is fed with a complex fertilizer "Kemir" on a bucket of water. At the age of 4-5 true leaves dive to a permanent place, setting the distance between the bushes 30-40 cm.

Seedlings after planting quickly start to grow. Individual specimens manage to give single flowers closer to autumn.

For an earlier blooming of the buds of first years, seedlings are prepared at home. The seeds are sown in common containers in March. Moisten with a manganese solution. Sprinkle on top with a layer of loose soil. Compact the soil by hand for better seed-to-ground contact. Cover with foil.

Shoots appear in a week. Dive in separate cups in the phase of 2-3 true leaves. Keeps the soil moist. 2 times a month, watering is replaced by fertilizing with fertilizer for flowers. They are planted in open ground when the threat of frost has passed, in early June.

Dividing the bush

Divide the bushes 3-4 years old with a good root system. The maximum number of divisions from one plant is 3-4. Too small specimens take a long time to recover, during a drought they can die.

The procedure is carried out in early spring at the time of the regrowth of the leaves. Dig up the plant completely, cut the base with a sharp knife. The resulting cuttings are planted in a permanent place. The first year, the flower arrows are removed so that the Persian chamomile safely restores the root system, does not waste energy on tying buds.

Cuttings

Cuttings are carried out throughout the summer. Break out the twigs at the base of the bush. Leave in the heteroauxin solution for 10-12 hours.

Prepare a bed, as for sowing seeds. The grooves are spilled with potassium permanganate with a weak solution. Cut off the top of the head with a peduncle. Deepen the lower part by 3-4 cm. Press the earth to the stem.

Installed inside a container with water to ensure high humidity. Cover the bed with a film through the arcs. They monitor the moisture content of the soil. As it dries, it is watered with a weak solution of potassium permanganate as a bactericidal agent. After a month, new leaves appear, with a favorable rooting outcome. Twice a season they are fed the complex fertilizer "Zdraven".

The shelter is left until the end of summer. The film is gradually removed in early September, accustoming the cuttings to open ground conditions. Until spring, the young are left in the seedling bed. In May, they are transplanted to a permanent place.

Care techniques, getting your own seeds will be considered in the next article.
