In the summer, a glass of raspberries on the market is sold almost worth its weight in gold. And how good it is when there is a personal plot where you can independently plant and grow bushes with these delicious and extremely healthy berries. How to get raspberries? The easiest way is to transplant part of a bush of a favorite variety from relatives or ask good neighbors to sell you planting material. Only you need to approach the transplant wisely in order to ensure the rapid rooting of the resulting planting material in a new place

How to share a raspberry bush

Those who are already familiar with the cultivation of raspberries know how far the shoots can go from the planting site, and, accordingly, how extensive its root system is underground. Therefore, it is completely impossible to separate and extract part of the bush without damaging the roots. Therefore, you need to try to at least inflict as little damage as possible to raspberries. To do this, the selected part must be dug in with a shovel. At the same time, the tip of the shovel should be immersed in the ground vertically so that the root separation area is minimal, since, while digging in the bush, the gardener simultaneously separates the roots from the total mass of the root system.

It is necessary to create conditions for the damaged root system so that it takes root and begins to gain strength in a new place. To do this, before dividing the bush, it is imperative to cut out the shoots, then the raspberries will spend less energy on feeding the aboveground mass and will soon build up the root system. It is a big mistake to believe that such seedlings with uncut shoots will sooner begin to bear fruit. On the contrary, they will lag far behind in development. How much pruning should be done? It is enough for the shoot to keep 40-50 cm in length.

After the raspberries are cut, dug and removed from the ground, the roots need to be created sufficiently moist so that they do not have time to dry out before transplanting. To do this, you can use a large bag with damp newspapers inside, or wrap your priceless spines in a piece of another nonwoven material, such as spunbond, which will prevent moisture from evaporating quickly.

Planting raspberries in a new location

Planting in a new place should be carried out in a well-cultivated area with fertile soil. If the quality of the soil leaves much to be desired, then at least the planting hole for raspberries must be filled with a nutritious soil mixture. It is necessary to warn gardeners against adding any mineral and organic fertilizers directly during the planting process. Let's not forget that the raspberry roots have already suffered the stress of damage during separation and may be further depressed by fertilizers.

An important question: at what depth should our divisions be located? You can deepen the raspberries a little, but no more than 3 cm than they grew in the old place. If you get too carried away with the depth, the buds will expend too much energy to break through to the surface and the shoots will be weakened.

Filling the delenka with earth is carried out in two stages. When the soil is equal to the sides of the planting pit, abundant watering is carried out. After that, the earth will settle a little, and you can add a little more dry nutrient mixture. After that, it is useful to mulch the planting, but not completely, but leaving the land uncovered for the germination of new growth.

Then the fresh planting needs to be shaded. To do this, pegs are driven in around the delenka and plywood sheets are attached around them or wrapped with some kind of rag. It is better not to use cardboard so that it does not get wet during rains.

Caring for transplanted cuttings consists in watering and feeding. For the first time after transplanting, fertilizers are applied no earlier than a month later.
