In the spring, on the site filled with fertilizers, vegetable crops grow by leaps and bounds. But closer to the middle of summer, some may have a drooping, tired look. The stems become brittle, the leaves turn yellow, and the tops turn black. What happened to the beds, how to help them? The reason for this condition may be a shortage of necessary batteries. Let's try to determine by external signs what you need to feed your pets with
Manganese for healthy roots and leaves
On acidified soils, vegetables suffer from an excess of manganese. But on alkaline or neutral plants, it may not be enough. Manganese deficiency is also observed after liming. In plants, this is reflected in a weakening of root development, a decrease in yield. In addition, vegetables become vulnerable to disease. A sign of such fasting will be:
• blanching of the color of the leaves against the background of green veins;
• Tomatoes are lagging behind in development, and the top of the stems turns yellow. Flowers are small or absent altogether;
• beet leaves stretch vertically and form a sharp end. The edges curl and soon die off. Their color takes on a pale red hue.
A common symptom of manganese deficiency is interveinal chlorosis. It spreads from the edge of the sheet plate towards the center.
The introduction of manganese sulfate helps to solve the problem, approximately 5-10 g per 1 square meter. In addition to embedding in the soil, foliar dressing is saved. To do this, take 10-20 g of the substance per 10 liters of water. For 1 sq. use a half-liter jar of top dressing.
Copper will restore healthy color to plants
For the implementation of carbohydrate and protein metabolism, photosynthesis, plants need copper. Therefore, with a lack of this element, the leaves become light green and lethargic. And if you do not pay attention to this sign, they completely turn white, and then die off.
In addition, the following symptoms may be present:
• tomato shoots stop growing, the leaves turn bluish, and the edges curl upward. Stems break off easily and flowering is poor;
• the onion grows poorly, its scales lose density or are formed thin.
The situation can be corrected by feeding with copper sulfate. Spraying with a solution of Bordeaux liquid also helps.
At the same time, both deficiency and excess of copper are bad. In the latter case, this is fraught with difficulties with the assimilation of phosphorus by plants. Therefore, too frequent use of copper-containing drugs can be harmful.
Boron for high yield
Boron is an extremely important element that directly affects the amount of the crop obtained. It is essential for the setting and growth of plant fruits. Another important process in which he takes part is the transport of sugars from leaves to fruits. The deficiency of the element leads to the accumulation of sugars in the leaves, and this, among other things, attracts insects from the category of parasites.
Lack of boron is also manifested by the death of the growth point. In addition, yellowing of the leaves and reddening of the veins on them will become signs of plant starvation. They deform and fall off. The same trouble threatens the ovary.
You can trace the lack of boron on individual vegetables by the following signs:
• the growth point of tomatoes turns black, and the shoots not only turn yellow, but also crooked;
• onion leaves turn yellow, bend and break off easily, yellow spots appear on them;
• cauliflower doesn't want to tie the head. If she managed to do this, then with a lack of boron, it acquires a brown tint, and the leg under it becomes hollow.
To save the harvest, you need to bring in borax. The soil can also be fertilized with boric acid. The same funds are used for foliar dressing in the form of a solution.
