XXIV International Exhibition Of Flowers, Plants, Equipment And Materials For Ornamental Horticulture And Flower Business "FLOWERS / FLOWERS-2017"

From 23 to 25 August, Pavilion No. 75 at VDNKh successfully hosted a key exhibition in the field of plant growing, floriculture and landscape design - "FLOWERS-2017"

The audience of the exhibition was traditionally represented by representatives of flower retail, event-agencies, eminent florists, landscape designers and architects, as well as experts and representatives of academia and government agencies. This year the number of visits to the exhibition has increased to 17,538.

On an area of 11 106 sq. M. 250 companies from 10 countries of the world presented their expositions with unique varieties of flowers and plants, ornamental trees and shrubs, innovative developments in the selection of vegetable crops, accessories for floristry, garden furniture, products for garden construction and landscape design, as well as planting materials, seeds and fertilizers. A pleasant surprise for all guests of the event were 17,800 gift petunias from the General sponsor of the event, IP Kharchenko R. V., which were handed over to each visitor with a smile at registration.

The leading companies of the “green” industry became the exhibitors of “FLOWERS” this year: Imperial Garden, Hobbika, INSPIRO, AUGUST BORG, AGROFIRMA PARTNER, ARIS UPAK, BELLOTA, GK ZELENY UGOLOK and many others. The centerpiece of the exposition was taken by the most colorful section - cut flowers from all over the world, brought to Russia by exporting and manufacturing companies from India, Poland, Germany, Holland and other countries. One of the largest was the national stand of the Republic of Ecuador, where new varieties of roses were presented, rightfully recognized as one of the best in the world for their quality and unique features.

The opening ceremony of the FLOWERS-2017 exhibition was attended by: Alexander Samsonov, First Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Housing and Utilities, Taisia Volftrub, President of the Association of Landscape Architects of Russia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador to the Russian Federation Julio Cesar Prado Espinosa, Director of the Gardens and People Festival Irina Savvateeva; First Deputy General Director of VDNKh JSC Dmitry Mikhailov.

The solemn ceremony was opened by Alexander Samsonov from the city of Moscow: “Today a large number of domestic and foreign enterprises, representatives of various countries, take part in the exhibition. This will allow us to establish mutually beneficial contacts and establish good cooperation. I wish everyone fruitful discussions, fruitful work, wonderful contacts and impressions!"

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dmitry Mikhailov emphasized the importance of the event for the entire domestic 'green' industry: “For more than twenty years of history, the exhibition has established itself as a professional platform for plant growing, floriculture, landscape design, and I can confidently say that the Flowers exhibition not only demonstrates all the best that is in the industry, but also creates new favorable conditions for its development."

For many years of its existence, the FLOWERS-2017 exhibition has been a center for business meetings, attracting new partners and concluding profitable contracts. Confirmation of this status of the exhibition was a specialized event for the industry business community - the signing of an agreement between the kupniy garden center and individual entrepreneur Kharchenko R. V. for the supply of more than 20,000 plants.

Traditionally, spectacular floristic shows have become one of the brightest events of the exhibition. The program was opened by Vyacheslav Roska, a well-known master of floristry in Russia and abroad, with the show "Constructivism in Flowers", the concept of which revealed the possibility of a refined combination of fresh flowers and technical materials such as metal, wood and glass. Decorated the main stage "FLOWERS / FLOWERS-2017" and the floristic show of Stas Zubov - "SPARKLING ERUPTION", which showed the guests of the event a number of unusual in their performance "sparkling" compositions.

The exhibition was organically complemented by an extensive demonstration area in the green area of the EXPO square from the partners of the exhibition - the festival "Gardens and People". Within the framework of the festival, true masterpieces of landscape gardening architecture were presented, lectures were held in the "green lecture hall" and special educational excursions were organized for professionals and amateurs of landscape art.

Within the framework of the exhibition, a rich business program was organized: round tables on current topics of the flower industry, lectures on innovative methods of growing flowers and ornamental plants, as well as master classes and presentations of new breeding products from leading world manufacturers. The key event of the business program was the XIX International Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of Landscaping in Large Cities", the main purpose of which was to discuss modern problems of greening, conceptual and regulatory aspects of ensuring green difficult environmental conditions.

For the first time at the International Exhibition "Flowers - 2017" a leading expert from Holland, founder and owner of Trendlogic, Sandra Koenings delivered a lecture - "Global trends in the flower industry - 2018". The listeners were able to learn about current trends in the development of the floristic industry, effective tools to increase sales, as well as receive recommendations to develop skills in making successful commercial decisions.

The Flowers exhibition keeps and continues the tradition of presenting the VDNKh medals of honor and the commemorative Grand Prix in the form of flower steles for achievements in the field of gardening and nursery. In 2017, within the framework of the competitive program, the Grand Prix winners were: BEST PRODUCT QUALITY - OJSC "Armavir State Farm" Decorative Cultures "named after NS Plokhov; BEST EXPOSITION DESIGN - Riviera JSC; NEWS - LLC TK Leader (Agrofirm "Partner").

For the first time, special event activities were organized within the framework of the exhibition: a flower quest from the exhibition management, a quiz "Secrets of Ecuador" from PROECUADOR and a drawing of certificates for training under the "landscape design" program from the project partner - the Eurasian Open Institute.
