A plant such as silver cineraria is a perennial crop and came to our country from the Mediterranean regions. This is one of the representatives of the aster family. You can also recognize this flower by other popular names - the ashen roseberry or the seaside jacob

A distinctive feature of the plant can be considered unusual and amazing leaf plates, which have a terry velvety surface texture and a structure in the form of feathers. The shade of the leaves is not very simple either. They have a silvery hue, creating a beautiful look for the flowerbed or garden. Cineraria is usually grown for use in landscape design. It is an excellent element that dilutes the composition of flowers. In any case, this flower will stand out due to its unusual appearance.

How to plant and care for silver cineraria?

Cineraria silvery is usually grown by sowing seeds, but it is also possible to carry out cuttings. You will not need to make special efforts to implement such procedures, but still the most popular method is the seed planting of a flower. You can buy planting material at any store that sells flowers. The planting material of this plant has a good germination rate. Seeds are planted for seedlings at any time, from March to the last spring month.

Regardless of which variant of planting cineraria will be chosen, the result will in any case please the gardener or summer resident. You can sow planting material in very wet soil. But in such a situation, they should be slightly crushed, and then covered with plastic wrap to create protective conditions. If the seeds were planted in a slightly moistened soil, then it is required to sprinkle the earth with sand on top, but after that, as in the first case, the planting site should be covered with a protective material in the form of a film or glass.

Watering cineraria seedlings must be very careful. Typically, this process is accomplished by spraying from a spray bottle. The first shoots can be observed after ten to twelve days. As soon as they are noticed, the container with the planted plants should be moved to a sunny, well-lit place. When the first pair of leaves can be observed on cineraria, a picking procedure is required. Usually, in a new place, the flower begins to grow with pleasure. After another two months, you can plant the crop in open beds, but here it is important that there is no risk of frost.

The silvery cineraria is very loving towards the sun. Even direct sunlight is not scary for such a culture. The plant also tolerates dry weather quite well. It is not necessary to carry out regular watering. As a rule, a flower needs soil moistening procedures only after planting seedlings. However, it is necessary to control the moisture content of the soil. Do not allow excessive water ingress or severe drought. Too little watering will cause leaf loss or yellowing. It is advisable to select the soil rather loose and slightly acidic, although a slightly acidic type of soil is also suitable for cineraria.

Many summer residents grow this flower as an annual crop, although in general it is considered a perennial. Some gardeners leave cineraria silvery for the winter season in the open field. To do this, cover the plantings with dry leaves fallen from trees in autumn. The flower is considered a frost-resistant plant, due to which it will perfectly tolerate the winter cold if it is covered in this way.

Before the start of the first frost, there is a possibility of digging up silvery cineraria and moving it to a closed room with a cool air temperature. As a result, the plant overwinters well in such a place, and next spring it can be planted again in the open air. In the spring season, the flower begins to develop again. But, so that nothing bothers him, it is necessary to cut off the withered and dead leaves.

How is cineraria silvery propagated?

There are three types of reproduction of silver cineraria. These include dividing, grafting and simple sowing of planting material. Any of these are effective in getting a good result. Still, the most widespread and demanded method is sowing seeds.
