So that in the spring the summer cottage season does not start with problems, in the fall you need to devote a couple of days to prepare the summer cottage for winter. I will list the main things that many people forget

Septic tank

If you do not have a concrete septic tank, do not pump out during the last days of the season. The reservoir should "go into winter" about half full. An empty container can deform, and during the period of melt water, there is a high probability of pushing the tank to the surface.

Before frosts, the entire above-ground system must be empty. Water is drained from the sink, siphon under the sink, shower. The overflow system and cistern are dehydrated in the toilet. If there is a washing machine, the supply hose and filter are unscrewed. They must be without water.

In drain ladders, water locks, on sections of communications where there is a possibility of water accumulation, it is necessary to reduce the freezing point: alcohol, antifreeze is poured or a spoonful of salt is poured. If a factory-made septic tank is installed on the site, follow the instructions specified by the manufacturer.

Water pipes

It is considered the most vulnerable point. If you do not completely drain the pipes / hoses, they will burst. In the spring you will be left without water and with big problems.

In the fall, the water supply system is mothballed. The water supply is shut off, the system is drained. If you have drain plugs or a tap installed at the lowest point, open them and the water will quickly go away by gravity.

The absence of a drain valve complicates the task - the pipes are blown through by an autocompressor. Work is carried out on each water supply line. After closing the manifold valve, a compressor is connected to the pipe, after creating a pressure of 2-3 atmospheres, the valve opens.

When you have finished draining, leave all taps open so that the remaining moisture evaporates and does not deform the structure when freezing.

House

Structures can suffer from leaks. The roof is checked - they should not have cracks, holes, cracks. The ventilation holes of the foundation are hermetically closed. In the fall, rodents can penetrate the underground, moisture will get in in winter, in the spring, a partial flow of melt water is possible. All openings must be closed in the fall.

The condition of the drainage system is checked. Remove debris, foliage accumulated in pipes and drains. Roof gutters should not protrude too much. When the snow rolls down and icicles form, they will come off. Correct their location or remove.

Attic rooms are checked for the presence of wasps. In the fall, insects are inactive and easier to remove. The wasp nest is treated with any insecticidal aerosol and carefully taken out into the street.

Visors and canopies often suffer in snowy winters. Temporary, dilapidated structures are dismantled or reinforced. Locking mechanisms are lubricated, padlocks are protected. From the ingress of rainwater, a cut plastic bottle is put on top or a piece of thin rubber cut from a car tire is attached.

Before leaving, all windows are checked: rotary handles, latches must be well closed. Water must be poured out of all containers. It is better to put the dishes in the closet or cover them with a clean cloth - it will become less dusty.

Leaving the cottage until spring, all buildings are de-energized with a common switch, the gas is turned off. The fullness of the gas cylinder does not affect its wintering, since the gas is compressed in the frost.

Rodents

Protect your home from mice and rats. Their raids begin with the onset of cold weather and end with the appearance of snowdrifts. During this time, they can ruin property, make a mess in the products, and leave a lot of feces.

It is better to take away the remaining products or put them in jars, iron buckets with a lid, they will not attract mice. If rodents constantly visit your home, load the mousetraps and place them under cabinets, tables. You can decompose a special poison, use folk remedies: strong-smelling herbs, elderberry branches, etc.

Appliances

• Refrigerator. Defrost, remove melt water from it, wash, wipe dry, leave the doors open.

• Television. Disconnect all wires, remove the batteries from the remote control. Cover with a natural cloth.

• Washing machine. Dry the chamber, wash the powder tray, and leave the door and tray open.

All devices are pulled out of the socket. Arriving at the dacha on frosty days, do not turn on audio and video equipment until it warms up. If this is not done, condensation will cause damage.
