Description
Bunhozia silvery is a fairly compact tree, the height of which almost never exceeds ten meters. Despite the fact that this tree is evergreen, with the onset of frost it can easily shed its foliage, and as soon as it gets warmer, the leaves will surely grow again. On the reverse side of the leaves, you can see the hairs tightly pressed against the leaf blades, which allow you to completely hide the epidermis - that is why this type of bunhozia was named silvery. This culture blooms with incredibly spectacular flowers of bright yellow color.
Trees that have reached two or three years of age usually begin to bear fruit. And from the age of three or four, they are able to delight with the harvest up to three times a year. The fruits of the silvery bunhozia form bizarre clusters and are characterized by an elliptical shape. The length of each fruit is relatively short - usually, it ranges from three to four centimeters. As for the color of the fruit, it can be yellow, orange or bright red. The pulp contained within each fruit and surrounding a rather large bone is very sticky, thick and deliciously delicious, and its consistency is somewhat similar to the consistency of fig pulp. True, some people argue that the taste of silvery bunhozia fruit is very similar to the taste of raw sweet potatoes.
And the fruits of this amazing plant boast a pronounced peanut butter aroma - which is why it is sometimes called the “peanut butter tree”.
Where grows
For the first time, silver bunhozia was discovered in Central and South America, where it grows successfully to this day. In addition, this crop is grown on the territory of South Florida and Columbia, as well as on the picturesque islands of the Caribbean and in distant Venezuela.
Application
The fruits of the silvery bunhozia can be eaten fresh, or you can make wonderful jam from them. In addition, they make great jellies, confitures and jams, and they can also be canned and added to milkshakes. And the oily consistency of the fragrant pulp of this unusual fruit allows you to easily spread it on slices of bread.
This plant also boasts an extraordinary decorative effect - all this is due to its magnificent showy flowers. Such a valuable quality allows the use of silvery bunhozia for landscaping gardens and parks. And in some countries it is grown with great pleasure as a houseplant.

At the moment, no special contraindications to the use of silver bunhozia fruits have been identified, but the risk of allergic reactions cannot be completely ruled out.

When growing silvery bunhozia, there is absolutely no need to constantly maintain high temperatures - this feature allows you to grow this unusual tree even at an altitude of 4600 meters. However, when frozen, fruit trees may die.
Bunhozia silvery requires a sufficient amount of light and well-moistened soils, since its growing season is very long in time. As for its reproduction, it occurs by seeds.
