We continue to choose a friend for ourselves, learn to look after and feed the horses.
Pay special attention to the legs. They must be straight, strong, muscular. The animal must stand firmly on all four limbs. There should be no knots on the joints, no tumors. The tendons should be well developed. When examining the legs, the horse should be calm and stand on a level surface so as not to fall over when you try to take his leg for inspection. The horse is a very intelligent animal, it learns commands very quickly. Ask the seller how to properly ask for a foot feed. He will tell you and you can see for yourself that it is very safe.
Usually this is done like this - approach the horse from the visible side, start stroking its front leg, gradually lowering to the fetlock joint, gently grasp the joint with your palm and gently pull it up. The horse will raise its leg. Do the same with the hind leg, but remember that the hind leg moves up and forward, so you should hold the foot by the hoof. Examine the hoof. The horn should be uniform, no delamination, no stratification, no holes. This is the same nail, only ossified.
Ask the seller to lead the horse on the bit (walk, trot, canter). See if the horse is limping. At the gallop, this moment is most likely to be noticed. If you haven't noticed anything like that, then your expected pet is healthy.
The back of a horse. The back of the horse should not be saggy, a sagging back means a curvature of the spine. The horse should not have the withers knocked down - this is a frequent injury (wrong saddle), very unpleasant for the horse. The knocked down withers are easy to notice - these are scuffs on it, sometimes there is no wool. The same goes for the entire back. An improper saddle affects the entire back. White hairs, keratinization of the skin, bumps in the places of the saddle also indicate its irregularity. The width and length of the back directly depends on the length and width of the chest. The back should not be too long, this creates difficulties both for the owner (difficulty in controlling the horse) and for the animal - the back is under great strain with a fast gait. The horse's belly should be tucked up and not sagging. The horse's loin should not be sunken and the sigh should not be too long.

Choosing and examining a horse is difficult, if you are a beginner in this, it is better to bring a veterinarian with you, he will help you with the horse.
Care and maintenance
You decided to buy a horse, which means you need to prepare a place for it, a house in which it will live, in which it will be warm and comfortable. Before buying and transporting an animal, it is worth building a stable in the yard, made of brick or wood. An ordinary horse needs warm, dry stables with stalls or stalls (preferably with stalls). Stall floors should be wood or earthen. The room should be bright and well-ventilated. They keep horses on straw or sawdust, this is their bedding, on which they like to lie and even sleep. Change the bedding daily. On the site you can build a small "barrel" for walking the animal, well, if you have a place to graze, then the price will not be for you, as the owner! If there are lakes, reservoirs nearby, take the horse to swim there more often, this will temper itself. Run the water supply to the stable and also hose the horse after work.

Feeding
There are several types of horse feeding: concentrate - more than 50% of the nutritional value of grain feed, hay - more than 50% of the ration is hay, with roughage - more than 70% of hay and straw. Before feeding the horse, be sure to drink clean, fresh water. In winter, a bunch of straw is thrown into the water, the horse then begins to strain the water through its teeth. Drink until the horse is drunk. It is strictly forbidden to drink cold water on a sweating horse. The horses are fed 3 times a day. More than half of the daily diet is consumed at night.
If you decide to get yourself a horse, remember that it will take a lot of time and effort to groom. Weigh a thousand times whether you can keep this beautiful animal, whether you can give her as much companionship as she needs, whether you can walk her as much as she needs. A stagnant horse begins to wither, it develops mental abnormalities, it becomes embittered. A horse is a developed animal, an individual, with its own mental and physical characteristics. There must be a connection between the horse and its owner, otherwise nothing will come of it. Show your horse your love and he will reciprocate you.
