It is impossible to imagine a single site without paths and paths. And I really want them not only to be used for their intended purpose, but also to decorate the site. To make your dreams come true, you can hire a designer, draw a project, and then, with the help of special masters, bring the idea to life. But what if, for some reason, you cannot turn to the masters? Make tracks yourself

Preparing a "trench" for the tracks

After you have selected the material and mapped out the tracks, you need to prepare the space for the tracks. In the place of the future paths, remove about fifteen centimeters of soil, cover the bottom of the resulting trench with a special geotextile. Such preparation is needed not only for a path made of gravel or special tiles, but also for most paths, for example, brick, cement, wood, plastic plates.

Gravel path

These paths look beautiful and impressive, blend well with any landscape and look organic on any site. They do not require much time and money. Making a gravel path with your own hands is very simple: first outline future paths, then prepare a trench. After covering the bottom with geotextiles, and fix the edges with a special border tape or large decorative stones, you can use purchased cement borders. Further, before filling the path, you can spread large beautiful stones along it, then fill everything with gravel or special colored stones.

By the way, this path is good in that it is impossible to quietly walk along the site, which will not allow uninvited guests to catch you by surprise.

But this track has one tangible drawback - it absolutely cannot bear the load, therefore it is extremely undesirable to drive a car along it.

Wood cuts path

For such a path, it is best to take hard tree species, for example, acacia. We clean the trunk and branches from the bark and cut into "round timber" 12-15 centimeters thick. Then we saturate with linseed oil and let dry. You can start laying the track. The preparation is the same as for the rest of the tracks. As soon as the trench is ready, fill it with a mixture of their sand and fine gravel. And on top, carefully tamping, they put round pieces of wood, adjusting them to each other as close as possible (unless the idea of your path is otherwise provided), and the gaps are filled with decorative chips or sawdust.

The main disadvantage of such a path is that it is short-lived, since the tree deteriorates quite quickly. But on the other hand, it is environmentally friendly and does not pollute the environment and looks harmoniously on the site with a log house.

Brick paths

If you have a brick from some construction site in your inventory, then you can put it into action, especially since you can diversify the paths simply by laying bricks in different ways. The preparation is the same as described above: trench, geotextile. Next, fill the place under the path with layers of gravel and sand, about 5-7 centimeters each. The bottom layer is gravel, the top layer is sand. Install curbs. And on the sand, carefully lay out the bricks in accordance with the pattern you have invented, lightly tamping them with a specially designed rubber mallet. Leave a small gap between the bricks, which then fill with sifted sand (you can use a mixture of sand and cement). After installation, gently sprinkle with water so that the sand or a mixture of sand and cement between the bricks gets well wet and "seizes".

Brick paths look beautiful, serve for quite a long time, are not capricious in laying, which makes it easy and quick to lay out the path yourself.
