In recent years, standard fuchsia specimens have been found on store shelves. A long "leg" with ampelous, hanging cascades of shoots decorated with flowers makes a fantastic impression. How to create a masterpiece worthy of everyone's attention with your own hands?

Growing stock

As a basis, erect specimens with powerful growth are used. The grafting height is calculated taking into account the length of the scion branches. The optimal size is 0.5-0.8 m.

Lignified stems are easier to tolerate the "operation", more reliably hold the vegetative part. As an exception, young plants with green shoots are used. In this case, additional support is required.

Vaccination technique

The most optimal method is the grafting of worms. The top of the rootstock is cut with a sharp knife, the trunk is divided into two halves in the upper part. In the middle, depending on the diameter, insert 1 or 2 cuttings. The lower cut of the scion is pre-sharpened on both sides at an acute angle.

Wrap the place of splicing with the reverse side of the electrical tape (sticky layer outward), so as not to damage the "bark" in the future when removed. Cotton fabric is used for wrapping on green parts. To increase the humidity, it is soaked with water, a bag is put on top.

Vaccination care

The shelter is cleaned twice a week for ventilation and additional moisture. The cotton tape is carefully treated with liquid so that no water gets into the splice to avoid tissue rotting. Diffused lighting is maintained over the plant.

At first, the leaves on the scion wither, sometimes dry out completely due to a lack of adequate nutrition, a decrease in turgor.

New shoots that form on the rootstocks are periodically broken out so that they do not drag off useful substances, do not weaken the scion. Leaves are left for full photosynthesis.

With successful fusion, the buds in the axils of the leaf plates start to grow. The stem is lignified, covered with a brown dense crust.

The final stage

The first year there is no flowering. The plant is trying to increase the vegetative mass, instead of the lost crown. After a year, the leaves of the stock age naturally and fly around. After that, fuchsia is rapidly growing.

In the fall, the winding is removed, after transplanting the bushes into larger pots. Watered in winter in moderation, trying not to overdry the earthen lump. Regular pruning is carried out, increasing the splendor of the crown.

Cascade scions bloom profusely at the ends of the shoots, completely covering the stem base.

Pests

The main pest is the whitefly indoors. Identifying a butterfly is easy. Adults have a whitish, powdery coating. The size of the yellowish body is 1-1.5 mm. The female lays eggs on the back of the leaf in small, annular groups. One generation develops in 25 days under favorable conditions.

The laying of eggs is extended in time, therefore, all phases of the development of the pest, sucking the juices from the juicy leaves, are found on the plants at once.

In the fall, before adding fuchsia to the room, prophylactic spraying of plants with Aktara, Komfidor preparations is carried out, according to the instructions. After 2 weeks, the leaves are washed with water, removing the chemistry.

In second place in terms of distribution is the greenhouse aphid. The color of an adult insect varies in light or dark green, yellow or brown. Body length 1, 4-2, 5 mm. It settles on all parts of the plant.

It actively sucks out juices, causing the buds to fall, leaf twisting, and a delay in the development of the vegetative mass. Transfers dangerous viral diseases. The full development of one generation takes 6-12 days.

With a small amount of pest, fuchsia is sprayed weekly with laundry soap, dissolved in water at a rate of 100-200 g per bucket of liquid. The mass settlement is being destroyed with chemical agents Iskra and Aktelik.

The longevity of plants is directly dependent on proper care. Over time, the vaccination site becomes invisible. The created "masterpiece" by the hands of the master for many years will delight with bright cascade-shaped inflorescences.
