Description

Pineapple melon is a fruiting plant that produces round or slightly oblong fruits, the average weight of which is one kilogram. And the weight of the largest specimens can sometimes reach two kilograms. The skin of all fruits is yellowish-brownish and covered with a very interesting mesh. And their light flesh has a light cream or pinkish tint. It is always juicy and boasts a light pineapple aroma.

Sweet pineapple. This variety of pineapple melon is characterized by an extremely amicable fruit setting and a rather long fruiting period. The average weight of oval fruits, covered with a very thin skin, is about two kilograms. They also boast impressive crack resistance. The fragrant and surprisingly juicy melon flesh of this variety is colored in white tones with a slight yellowness.

American pineapple. The total duration of the growing season for this melon variety does not exceed three months. It is characterized by long lashes, very intensive development and relatively small portioned fruits, covered with a beige-greenish peel with a characteristic dense mesh. The white and very delicate flesh of these fruits has a pleasant creamy hue. Moreover, their average weight often reaches two kilograms.

Sweet pineapple F1. The mass of the fruits of these melons almost never exceeds one and a half kilograms, and it will not be difficult to grow them in most Russian regions. Rounded yellow fruits have a mesh surface and greenish flesh with a barely perceptible yellowish tinge. They also have a sweet pineapple aroma. This variety is very resistant to adverse weather conditions and anthracnose.

Mini melon pineapple americano. This is a very early early ripening hybrid, the weight of which ranges from two hundred to four hundred grams. And its bright yellow skin is covered with clearly visible dark stripes. As for the pulp, it is incredibly juicy and pure white.

Application

Pineapple melon is not only eaten fresh - it makes wonderful jams, rich preserves and delicious marmalade. In addition, you can cook compotes from it. And in the East, excellent candied fruits are made from such melons. It is not forbidden to freeze this valuable product for future use.

Growing and caring

In order to grow pineapple melon, it is important to take care of proper heating of the soil - its temperature at the time of sowing should be at least twelve degrees. And the best growth such a melon can boast at a temperature of twenty-five to thirty degrees. She needs shelter in cold climates. Under the right conditions, this crop will grow equally well in greenhouses and outdoors.

Pineapple melon is very unpretentious to soil acidity, but the best yields are usually harvested on neutral soils. This culture is very partial to areas well lit by the sun, which are characterized by the absence of gusts of cold air. She also loves moisture.

It is not worth planting seeds too deeply when planting - the most optimal depth in this case is five millimeters.

Under favorable conditions, it will be quite possible to harvest the crop already after sixty-five or seventy days after pecking the entrances, which is why this variety of melons is considered early ripening.
