Growing and caring
To grow dwarf pineapples, the first step is to build a properly drained and sufficiently loose growing medium. For this purpose, you can combine fern fibers, rather weighty fragments of clay, as well as osmund fibers and large pieces of bark. And so that such an environment can hold water, it does not hurt to add a little vermiculite or peat to the resulting composition.
Next, the plant itself is placed in a pot with a ready-made composition. At the same time, you can get young pineapples in several ways: you can tear off or cut off a young shoot or a lateral shoot from an adult plant, while it must be at least two times younger than an adult specimen. And you can divide the root parts of existing plants or cut off the fruits from a dwarf pineapple, leaving small parts of them attached to the roots.
A plant planted in a pot is installed indoors, but they do it in such a way that it has access to sunlight. A dwarf pineapple will feel especially good in the west, as well as in the south-west or east window - there it will receive three to four hours of full-fledged sunlight every day. The room where this plant will stand should be warm enough - you should not expose your home beauty to the harmful effects of cold weather. If you want to regularly take a dwarf pineapple outside so that it can breathe plenty of fresh air, it is best to place it in shaded, but at the same time, warm enough areas. It can only be exposed to the open sun for a short time.
The dwarf pineapple is watered once a week, filling the container in which the pot is placed with water. As for watering the nutrient medium itself, there is no need for them. It is strongly discouraged to forget about watering this exotic handsome man, as this can adversely affect his growth. In addition, it is always necessary to make sure that the culture medium continues to be properly drained. And this plant is fertilized once every six or eight weeks, also during watering.
Having collected the harvest of fruits, they begin to transplant their tops. If pineapples are not picked, then it is possible that they will bloom like flowers. One plant can bloom only once, but later it can replace up to three other plants.
Sometimes dwarf pineapple can be damaged by phylloxera, spider mites and scabies.
