Repair of a metal sheet roof - such a roof is considered one of the most durable, but, nevertheless, this roof will have to be periodically repaired.

Stages of repair of metal sheet roofing

First of all, you need to carefully examine the roof, not only from the outside, but also from the inside. In this case, attention should be paid to the junctions of the rafters in the system, because all unwanted deformations will first of all occur here. Such deformations can be caused by cracking or shrinkage of the wood, including the weakening of the fastening itself.

If the wood is already rotting, then it is necessary to cut it off. If there has already been a decrease in the cross-section of buildings and rafter legs, then either their reinforcement or a complete replacement will be required.

Before starting all work, the elements should be installed in a certain order, which will ensure a perfectly flat surface. If some places have burst, then you will need to correct their cornice cover, and you should also trim all overhang lines and attachment points.

If there are small holes, then they should be cleaned from a variety of contaminants. After that, patches made of steel are installed. An alternative to such patches is a universal sealant. Joints and folds, where the unwanted leak occurred, is recommended to be corrected with two-component hermabutyl.

After the roof patches have been applied, they should be painted. If the painting itself was of very high quality, then the patches will only have to be tinted a little, and not completely changed their color. It is worth remembering that repairs must be carried out in the direction from the bottom up.

Features of repairing metal sheet roofing

When carrying out repair work, it is necessary to take into account many factors: the angle of inclination, the roofing structure itself and the installation location of the gutters. It is not recommended to violate the repair technology, otherwise subsequent repairs will be required very soon.

When carrying out repair work, some materials are required: sheet or rolled steel, non-ferrous metals and metal tiles.

If the roof was made of galvanized steel, then its repair will consist only in eliminating leaks and small metal damage. It should be remembered that such roofs are of only two types: from corrugated board and the so-called folded roof. Steel roofing will require the identification and elimination of all possible defects.

Metal roofing is considered the lightest, based on weight. As for the operation, it is difficult to call it budgetary, but such a roof has a number of advantages.

Iron can be used to cover any roofs, and the consumption will be mainly spent on periodic painting.

The metal roof is a lathing bar, the cross-section of which is 5x5 centimeters; boards are laid on the slopes of the eaves of such a roof. The pitch of the boards should not be less than 25 centimeters, because with this type of roof, the sheathing cannot be continuous. This rule must be strictly observed, otherwise unwanted corrosion will occur.

The material should first be prepared, and only then raised up. Sheets of roofing steel are also cut out at the bottom, folds and corners are folded. After that, the resulting elements are rallied into strips with short sides.

If the angle of inclination of the roof is sixteen degrees, then in this case, single folds are suitable. When the angle of inclination is smaller, then double folds are used. The folds are placed across the slope of the roof itself so that water does not drain. Iron sheets are fixed with so-called clamps: these elements are made from roofing steel.

With the use of galvanized steel, work is carried out in a specific order. First, the eaves plumb lines are covered, and then the wall gutters are installed. After that, the next step is the laying of the roofing. The final maneuver is the installation of drainpipes.
