International holiday on March 8 has passed. Many women received fresh flowers in the form of indoor plants as a gift. After a while, the “new settlers” lose their attractive appearance and begin to dry out. How can you help new "pets" go through the adaptation process without loss? Consider the example of miniature roses
Urgent measures
Most of the flowers from greenhouses are infected during development with diseases and pests. At the initial stage, signs of damage are hardly noticeable. Store refrigerators, daily spraying restrain the massive spread of harmful misfortunes. At home, conditions change dramatically. Dry air, high room temperatures lead to an outbreak of pathogen proliferation. The "old-timers" of the apartment suffer along with the "new settlers".
Before putting on the windowsill, it is necessary to carry out preventive measures:
1. Choose an isolated place from other plants.
2. Treat with phyto-farm. In 0.5 liters of liquid, 5 ml of the active ingredient is diluted. The drug helps to get rid of spider mites, thrips, aphids.
3. A week later, spray with Topaz (1, 5 l of water add 2 ml). It kills pathogens of powdery mildew, rust, spotting.
4. With an interval of 2 weeks from Fitoferm repeat pest control with Acarin. 4ml is diluted in a liter of water.
The listed drug concentrations are suitable for roses. For the rest of the crops, prepare a solution according to the instructions in order to avoid burns on the leaves of the plants.
After prophylaxis, flowers are placed on the windowsill, without fear of contamination of other "pets".
Replacement of soil
On an industrial scale, manufacturers use special preparations (retardants, gibberillins).
Their action is aimed at:
• increase in strength, thickening of shoots;
• improving the appearance of plants;
• bookmarking more buds;
• duration of flowering period;
• fast growth of the root mass.
Further processing negatively affects the viability of the "new settlers". Shoots dry up, inflorescences wither, not fully blooming. There is only one way of salvation - soil replacement.
Experts do not advise completely rinsing the roots. This procedure is used in extremely severe cases when other techniques do not help.
To begin with, we increase the volume of the pot with the addition of fresh earthen mixture. We choose ready-made soil in the store or use our original components: peat, humus, sand, vermiculite, moss, depending on the requirements of the culture.
At the bottom we lay a drainage layer of expanded clay, pebbles or clay shards. A little soil on top.
We saturate the plant well with water, leaving it for an hour to fully moisturize. We get roses from factory dishes. If the roots are tightly entwined with a clod of earth or coconut fiber, then we make vertical tears in several places, allowing the underground part to pass over time into a fresh substrate.
Place the plant in the middle of the new container. Sprinkle the prepared soil from all sides, compacting it by hand. Pour with potassium permanganate solution. When shrinking, add earth.
We remove all inflorescences and buds completely without pity, making it possible for a good adaptation of the root system, for a rapid build-up of the underground mass.
We return to the windowsill. At first we shade from direct sunlight. After 2-3 weeks, the roses will get stronger, the tops will begin to grow. This is a sure sign of the right activities.
Reproduction
Because of the "chemical" greenhouse pumping, cuttings of purchased flowers do not take root well. Of 10 pieces, no more than 2 branches take root. Take your time with reproduction. Give the “new settlers” an opportunity to get rid of stocks of harmful substances during the year, to build up a healthy mass that can actively form roots during cuttings.
Having carried out the above activities, you will save your favorite plants from death, give them a second life. In a few months, they will thank the hospitable hosts with an abundant bouquet of new inflorescences.
