It is to this species that the plant owes its name. Purple and white paint a strikingly crisp checkerboard on the petals. The plant is undersized, reaches a height of 30 centimeters, and therefore is well suited for alpine slides. They decorate the foreground of the borders, and are also planted among shrubs and trees.

An amazingly majestic and delightful tall plant. The stem height varies from 60 to 120 centimeters. Although yellow, orange or red bell flowers droop to the ground, they do not differ in modesty, violating the message of God. Growing
All hazel grouses love sunny places, but they also endure partial shade.
They prefer the soil that is well fertilized with organic matter, loose, light, slightly acidic and drained. Stagnant water leads to rotting of the bulbs.
Reproduction
You can propagate hazel grouse by seeds and planting bulbs.
Sowing seeds is carried out in open ground in spring or autumn. Autumn sowing is preferable, since hazel grouse seeds quickly lose their germination. But it will take a long time to wait for flowering from such plantings: from 2 to 5, or even up to 7 years.
Grouse bloom in April-May, and in June-July, the aerial part dies off, and the bulbs can be dug out. The bulbs are cleaned and stored in sawdust or peat crumb to protect their juicy, weak integumentary scales from drying out. Boxes with bulbs are removed in a cool room until August-September, when they are again planted in the ground.
If during the storage period the bulbs managed to release the roots, then they must be planted very carefully so as not to damage the roots. The planting depth of the bulbs is approximately three times the diameter of the bulb. If the winter is going to be harsh or the soil of the flower garden is light, then the bulbs are hidden deeper.
You can cover the bulbs with straw or spruce branches after the ground freezes up to 10 centimeters, so as not to shelter mice under the shelter. In the spring, the shelter is removed.
The bulbs are transplanted after 2-3 years. But in the imperial hazel grouse, almost every year the bulb is divided into two, so it is better to plant it every year.
