Let's continue our conversation about the unusual forms of clematis. Today I want to introduce you to two varieties: Burning and Atropurpurea. Small inflorescences of these varieties form lush caps of white buds, similar to an air cloud from afar. Indescribable beauty

Botanical description

Erect clematis belongs to the Buttercup family. Perennial herb of natural origin. Straight stems without clinging antennae reach a height of 1.5-2 meters.

The leaves are small, oval, dark green, slightly pointed at the ends, collected in 5 pieces on one petiole. In the Antropurpurea variety, in cool weather (spring, autumn), they are painted in a dark cherry palette.

Inflorescences 2-3 cm in diameter, pubescent along the very edge, white with sepals. Collected in lush brushes. On one branch there are up to 120 upward-looking buds, opening gradually. During flowering, the bush looks like an openwork, white cloud. Non-intrusive light scent of honey with a touch of almond, spreads far beyond the bush. Blooms profusely in June - July, covering all the foliage with buds.

The fruits ripen at the end of August. From a distance, they look like fluffy spiders scattered around the plant. Achenes glabrous or pubescent, provided with a long crest.

Strong roots withstand winter frosts well without shelter. The aboveground part dries up, in the spring the stems grow back.

Growing benefits

Erect clematis has many positive qualities:

• long-liver (without transplant grows in one place up to 25 years);

• frost-resistant (found in the northern regions);

• not picky about living conditions;

• decorative appearance all season;

• drought-resistant;

• easily tolerates shading;

• spreads a fragrant smell.

The list is endless. Let's take a closer look at this amazing plant.

Habitat conditions

Grows well in sunny and shady areas. In the latter version, the bushes are slightly elongated, reaching a height of 2.5 meters. Not afraid of spring, autumn frosts. It winters well without shelter in Central Russia.

It is advisable to choose a place protected from the winds or to put strong frames. There are no antennae, so the plants with a strong impulse tilt to the ground.

Drought-resistant, thanks to a powerful root system. Grows on loamy, sandy loam soils. It responds positively to the introduction of rotted organic matter.

Place in the flower garden

Bush forms look decorative throughout the summer. At first, the plants are strewn with many fancy bells or white airy inflorescences, then fluffy balls of silvery seedlings appear.

Integrifolia and upright clematis are perfect for single plantings in the middle of the lawn. Different colors are well combined within their community, skillfully matched in height.

In complex mixborders, they serve as a background for lower flowers: astilbe, basil, bush form of prince, badan, daylily, geranium, terry echinacea.

The location of clematis among the bushes: rhododendron, spiria, hydrangea, rose, - gives a special elegance and sophistication to the composition.

Resting places, benches, gazebos, cased with erect forms, look unusual, attracting guests with their beauty, sophisticated aroma. Low-growing varieties are planted along winding paths.

Shrub species are suitable for front gardens, hedges along the fence. Sometimes, creating the illusion of a wild bush.

Single trees with a high crown position above the ground, lined with burning clematis in the second tier, acquire a fabulous, airy look. This trend has become fashionable in recent years.

Erect forms are used in gardens of different directions: rural, Japanese, modern or English.
