Burnet is one of the incredibly popular garden plants. In general, in fact, this flower is a field plant, endowed with very valuable medicinal properties. Nevertheless, even despite this, gardeners around the world again and again prefer the burnet.

Today, many different varieties of this plant have been bred, each of which looks extremely stylish and spectacular. Among other things, this plant is also characterized by a rather long flowering. Most often, this plant is grown as a perennial crop.

As for the most common types of burnet, they should include: medicinal burnet, magnificent burnet, alpine, small-flowered, glandular, Khakusan, Sitka, thin-leaved and dull-leaved burnet.

Burnet care and cultivation

It is noteworthy that such a plant as a burnet can hardly be called quite whimsical to care for. For the beneficial development of this plant, no special growing conditions are required. Among other things, the burnet is not demanding on the soil. As for the places on the site, this plant can grow well both in sunny areas and in partial shade. The flower should be watered in such a way that the soil is constantly wet. In the spring, it will be necessary to feed the plants with the help of complex mineral fertilizers. It is worth noting that the burnet is also endowed with increased resistance to the winter period of time. For this reason, no shelter is required for the winter.

Burnet reproduction

Burnet reproduction can occur both through seeds and by dividing the bush. As for reproduction with seeds, the sowing of seeds should be carried out in the autumn period of time: the seeds are immediately planted in open ground. It is noteworthy that the burnet can reproduce well through self-seeding. In the event that you choose to reproduce the burnet with seeds, then flowering will begin after about a year or two.

As for reproduction by dividing the bush, such a procedure is recommended to be carried out either at the very end of the summer season, or at the end of spring, namely in the month of May. The division of the bush must be carried out extremely carefully, while it is very important not to harm the roots of the burnet. It is advisable to thoroughly prepare the soil before planting. For such soil preparation, it will be necessary to add either wood ash, humus, or mineral fertilizers to the soil.

As for various diseases and pests, the burnet is considered a fairly resistant plant to both those and other negative reactions.

Medicinal properties of burnet

In folk medicine, the healing properties of the burnet are actively used. The broth, which is prepared on the basis of the roots of this plant, is recommended for use both externally and internally. The use of this broth inside is recommended in the presence of various Escherichia coli, and also such a decoction will have a bactericidal effect in relation to a variety of microbes of both paratyphoid and dysentery groups. Such a decoction is indicated for use with especially heavy menstruation, with various bleeding: uterine, renal, gastric, intestinal, pulmonary and hemorrhoidal. Also, the broth will also be effective in chronic enterocolitis and ulcerative nonspecific colitis.

As for the external use of burnet, it is recommended to use such a remedy to combat non-healing wounds, as well as burns and varicose veins of the legs.
