Thyme-flowered snakehead is one of the plants of the family called labiates, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: Dracocephalum thymiflorum L. As for the name of the thyme flowering snakehead family itself, in Latin it will be like this: Lamiaceae Lindl.

Description of thyme flowering snakehead

The thyme flowering snakehead is an annual herbaceous and short pubescent plant, endowed with an erect or branched stem. The lower leaves of this plant will be long-petiolate, they are also large-crowned and cordate-oval. The middle leaves will be oblong-lanceolate, short-petiolate and crenate-serrate. The upper leaves are lanceolate, sessile and almost entire. The inflorescence of thyme snakehead is rather long, in the upper part it will be more dense, and in the lower part it is spaced. The calyx of this plant is indistinctly two-lipped, with the upper tooth three to four times wider than all the others. The corolla is rather small, its length will be about seven to nine millimeters, it will be bluish-purple in color, while the lower lip of such a corolla at the very base will be lighter and endowed with dark specks.

The flowering of the thyme flowering snakehead falls on the period from spring to mid-summer. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the southern half of the European part of Russia, as well as in Ukraine, Siberia, the Caucasus and Kazakhstan.

Description of the medicinal properties of thyme-flowered snakehead

The thyme-flowered snakehead is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. Grass includes leaves, flowers, and stems. The presence of such valuable healing properties is due to the presence of flavonoids, essential oil and flavonoid glycosides in this plant. It is noteworthy that the essential oil is capable of exhibiting antibacterial activity.

The infusion, prepared on the basis of thyme-flowered snakehead herb, is used as a wound-healing, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic agent for spasmophilia, diarrhea and various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Compresses from the crushed green herb of this plant are used for scabies and rheumatism.

When bloating, it is recommended to use the following very effective remedy based on thyme snakehead: to prepare such a remedy, take one tablespoon of crushed dry herb of this plant in one glass of boiling water. The resulting mixture should be infused for two hours, and then the mixture is filtered very carefully. Take the resulting remedy based on thyme-flowered snakehead one third of a glass three to four times a day before the start of a meal. It is noteworthy that in order to achieve the greatest efficiency when taking such a remedy, it is recommended to strictly observe not only all the rules for the preparation of this remedy, but also all the rules for taking it.

To prepare the infusion, you will need to take one tablespoon of the herb of this plant, which should then be infused for two hours in one glass of boiling water in a sealed container, after which it is recommended to strain the resulting mixture very thoroughly. Such a remedy is taken on the basis of thyme-flowered snakehead, two tablespoons in half an hour before the start of a meal. It should be noted that the chemical composition of this plant has not yet been fully understood, for this reason, we can expect soon the emergence of new ways to use the healing properties of this plant.
