Thyme is especially common today in regions such as Transcaucasia or Crimea. In resorts, a similar plant is found very often. In Asia, thyme is added to all cooked dishes, where the ingredient is in the form of lamb meat. This seasoning gives the meat a special flavor. Thyme is also used as a spice in many dishes from French cuisine.

Thyme belongs to the plants of the Lipocyte species, and it includes a little less than four hundred varieties. In Eastern Europe alone, there are almost two hundred different thymes growing. But it is worth remembering that, as a seasoning for delicious dishes, not every variety of thyme is suitable. All plants, despite the external similarities, have completely different aromas and colors of leaves. The name "Bogorodskaya grass" was given to the creeping thyme. You can find it on dry slopes in natural climates. To grow a similar culture in your garden, you should choose areas that are well lit during the day, where the maximum sunlight gets. In areas with shade, many varieties of thyme lose their pleasant smell and taste, which means they cannot be used as a seasoning for dishes.

The external appearance of this plant looks like a small neat bush or semi-shrub, the height of which reaches up to forty centimeters, but on average the size of one plant is not more than twenty centimeters. The stem of the plant resembles the structure of wood, and there are practically no leaves on it. The culture itself can be both recumbent and ascending. On the branches of the shrub are very tiny leaves with a pointed edge, they also rise in the direction from the stem. Branches with flowers are straight. Thyme belongs to the type of perennial grasses and develops especially actively from the end of May to the end of August. The floral components of thyme are pink and purple, although there are also white-flowered plants.

Among summer residents, thyme is very often common in the form of decorative decoration of the site. It perfectly hides irregularities in the territory, and occupies a special place in aromatic gardens of thyme. By the way, thyme produces fruits that are in the form of miniature ovals. Their appearance resembles black or brown small varieties of nuts. The taste of thyme, despite the slight bitterness, is simply wonderful. The aroma that the spice exudes takes a very long time, giving various dishes not only excellent taste, but also a wonderful smell. Thyme branches are harvested in the fall along with the leaves, and then they begin to dry the plants. When the process ends, the dry grass is crushed and then packaged in certain selected packages. Under the right storage conditions, the spice will not lose its qualities within two years.

Growing thyme is not limited to outdoors. At home, the plant develops well on the windowsill. Thyme will take root perfectly in the garden where there is an apiary. In addition, when planting thyme bushes in greenhouses, insects must also be launched there, which will pollinate the plants.

The plant in the form of thyme contains such important components as flavonoids, organic acids and mineral salts. Since ancient times, people have appreciated thyme due to its excellent healing and medicinal properties. Thyme is popular at the moment, but one condition must be observed: thyme grows rather slowly, due to which it is impossible to pull out the grass along with the root system.

Thyme decoctions and infusions are wonderful medicines. They are made in the proportion of twenty grams of herbs per one glass of boiled water. Such tinctures are often used for colds or to cleanse the body. Also, thyme perfectly calms the nervous system and relieves stress. For insomnia and headaches, thyme infusion is also used quite often among the people. When added to the infusion of vegetable oil, radiculitis and arthritis can be treated.
