Woodlip is one of the plants of the family called euonymus, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: Celastrus orbiculata Thunb. The woodworm is either a weakly climbing or creeping shrub, the length of which will be about two and a half to five meters, and the diameter will not exceed ten centimeters. The plant is endowed with brownish bark. The leaves are obovate-elliptical or rounded-elliptical, sometimes they can be round. The length of the leaves will be about two to three centimeters, and the width will be equal to one and a half to two centimeters. The leaves of this plant are leathery, large-crenate-serrate, they will be yellow-olive in color.
Stipules will not be thorny and ciliate, the inflorescences of this plant are simple and umbellate, two to seven flowered. The flowers of the woodworm are small, they are endowed with greenish petals, while the capsules will be almost spherical, their diameter will be about four to six millimeters. The seeds of this plant are endowed with an orange wrinkled roof. Under natural conditions, wood-nose pliers can be found in the Far East: in the Kuriles, in the south of Sakhalin and in the Amur region.
This plant can have two types of shoots: either long, low-leafed and curly, or straight and densely leafed. The bark on the old stems of this plant is dark, it is endowed with longitudinal deep cracks. Young shoots are first painted in green tones, then they change color to orange-red or brownish-brown. The leaves will be very dense and endowed with pointed tops, their length and width are approximately equal. It is noteworthy that in the shade of the plant, the leaves will be larger in size. Leaves of woodworm are painted in bright red tones.
This plant is dioecious. The flowering of the woodworm will last for one and a half to two weeks and falls on the month of June.
The plant grows in thickets on the seashore and along rivers that will flow into the sea. The plant also grows on rocky stony slopes, among bushes and in sandy-pebble deposits.
Description of the medicinal properties of woodworm
The tree-nose is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the roots of this plant for medicinal purposes. The presence of such valuable healing properties is explained by the content of tannins and dulcite in the plant, while the leaves of the woodworm contain sucrose, catechins, flavonoids and dulcite. The seeds of this plant contain fatty oil and sesquiterpenoids. It is noteworthy that this plant is endowed with the ability to exhibit antiviral activity.
As for traditional medicine, here a decoction of the roots of this plant is used to improve blood circulation, and externally this plant can be used in the form of applications for purulent wounds and in the form of lotions.
In the form of lotions for purulent wounds, as well as for washing, it is recommended to use the following tool based on woodworm: to prepare such a tool, you should take eight grams of roots in one glass of water. It is recommended to leave the resulting mixture to boil for five to six minutes, then such a mixture is infused for two hours, and then carefully filtered. This remedy is taken on the basis of woodworm for cardiovascular insufficiency, one or two tablespoons three times a day.
