Seeing the snow-white petals and the sunny golden-yellow center, everyone can easily determine that it is a chamomile. And he will be right. But not always. Because similar flowers, or rather inflorescences, adorn the world and other plants. This is, for example, a daisy, which has larger inflorescences and leaves of a different shape than that of chamomile, or a navel, which will be more difficult to distinguish
Rod Pupavka
Herbaceous representatives of the genus Pupavka (the Latin name of the genus is Anthemis) can be perennial, biennial or annual.
Not everyone will distinguish them from chamomiles, since a quick glance at the leaves and inflorescences of the navel will not see any difference with the leaves and inflorescences of chamomile. Both the leaves are pinnately dissected, and the inflorescences are formed by extreme white petal flowers and tubular yellow flowers in the core. Here are just "daisies" with yellow petals can be safely called Pupavka. As for the inflorescences with white petals, choosing the right name for the inexperienced plant lover is not always easy.
Varieties
•
Pupavka noble (Anthemis nobilis) - is a twin of chamomile pharmacy. She has the same pinnately dissected leaves, inflorescence baskets with white flowers that bloom throughout the summer and have medicinal properties. Healing tinctures are prepared from the collected flowers. Umbilical bushes are undersized, do not exceed 25 centimeters in height. Suitable as a ground cover plant.
•
Pupavka Cretan (Anthemis cretica) - grows slightly higher than the previous species, rising to a height of 30 centimeters. Covered with white or gray down, the pinnately dissected leaves of the Cretan umbilicus form a kind of cushions on the surface of the earth. The inflorescences-baskets have a standard chamomile appearance with a yellow center and white marginal petals. To this species are added the Cretan Ponrika Pupavka and the Cretan Carpathian Pupavka.
•
Pupavka dyeing (Anthemis tinctoria) - a tall perennial (up to 70 cm high) grown as a biennial. A densely branching bush covered with gray-green pinnately dissected leaves with a jagged edge. Completely yellow inflorescences reach 4 centimeters in diameter. The species received the name for the ability of inflorescences to give a coloring matter. New varieties of the species have been bred, differing in larger inflorescences and golden-yellow color.
Growing

Groundcover and undersized pupavka species are good for alpine slides, flower borders, mixborder foregrounds. Tall ones will decorate the middle or background of mixborders.
Planted in open ground in spring or autumn. Given the bushiness of the plant, the interval between plants is left at 30-40 centimeters.
Pupavka loves calcareous or calcareous soils. In Egypt, it grows well on sand. When growing in boxes or pots, regular garden soil can be used.
Sun inflorescences like to grow under the rays of the sun, easily tolerating elevated temperatures. They also withstand low temperatures.
Pupavka easily tolerates drought, but watering is desirable if the drought has lingered for a long time.
Reproduction
Annual species are propagated by sowing seeds directly into open ground, or through seedlings.
Perennials can be propagated by cuttings, which are harvested in the second half of summer. For rooting, they are planted in a peat-sand mixture and kept in places with high air humidity.
In early spring or autumn, the bushes of the umbilical noble can be divided, immediately planting the separated parts in a new place.
Diseases and pests
Over-watering can cause root rot.
May suffer from a lack of iron in the soil.
They love to feast on the leaves of the umbilical snail and slugs.
When buying seedlings, pay attention to the condition of the root system, to the compactness and branching of the bush.
