On New Year's Eve, so many wonderful holidays await all of us! And the New Year's Eve itself, and Christmas, and Epiphany, and the Old New Year … For all holidays, it is customary to give gifts to relatives, colleagues, friends. And it is indoor flowers in pots like no others that will come in handy in the form of a presentation during the winter holidays. After all, how wonderful is it to give a drop of summer to your neighbor in the middle of a cold winter? These indoor plants would be quite appropriate as a great gift for the New Year holidays
Poinsettia
It is often referred to as the "Christmas star". In Europe, poinsettia is placed on a festive table, presented with it to neighbors as a traditional Christmas flower. Poinsettia is also called beautiful milkweed, euphorbia. Traditionally, poinsettia is given, blooming with red flowers. But you can also present this flower with pink, cream or completely white bracts at Christmas.
Poinsettia in marble color is very beautiful. Make sure that you do not get it frozen from the store and carefully bring it home (preferably packed) so that it does not freeze on the way, as it quickly withers and discards leaves when temperatures drop.
Schlumberger
… or the Decembrist, zygocactus. A very popular flower as a New Year or Christmas present. Flowers appear on it in November, and the plant grows in full bloom in time for the New Year and Christmas Eve. The Decembrist will bloom at the end of January. Flowers can be light in shade, pink, red, orange.
Hippeastrum
Also a great solution for a Christmas present. A symbol of victory, triumph, superiority in everything. The plant is very interesting in that having bought it in November in the form of a bulb in a pot that does not show signs of life, by the New Year, you can be surprised to see how a dormant bulb gave a large peduncle with three or more flowers on it. The color of flowers can be different for a plant, depending on the variety. But the most common color in hippeastrum is white and scarlet.
Hellebore
There is a legend. When gifts were brought to Jesus who was born in a manger, only one poor shepherdess could not give anything to Christ. She wept bitterly about this, and the Angel of God flying past her took pity and threw a white flower from heaven, which the girl took to the baby as a gift.
Because this flower blooms in the mountains under the snow and continues to bloom even in frosts, it was called hellebore. The gift of a hellebore in a pot can be planted in the spring in the garden.
Conifers in pots
Another great option is conifers in large pots. We mean miniature Christmas trees, pines, juniper, cypress. This is a lush, beautiful, fashionable gift lately, which has a unique winter resin aroma.
But it must be remembered that coniferous plants, getting into a dry and hot room, can stand in a green form only for the first weeks, and then the needles will dry out, turn yellow, and begin to crumble, even if the plant is watered. But with cool air up to plus 15 not higher, with moderate watering in the light, the plant will live well for a much longer period.
Other green gifts for the New Year
Make a green wreath or a garland as a gift, in which coniferous branches, ivy, holly shoots, and her berries are woven, which will decorate any wreath with their scarlet color.
