Blooming Christmas tree - for the New Year holidays

In addition to the Christmas tree, there are other plants that traditionally decorate the interior on winter holidays. And one of these is a bright Christmas tree. Unlike other indoor flowers, which delight with their blossoming petals closer to spring and summer, this indoor pet begins to form buds with the arrival of winter. But some errors in the content can delay flowering or completely deprive it. What do you need to know in order for a Christmas tree to please with its bright decorative look for the New Year holidays?

Content temperature

The winter flowering period can be misleading for a novice grower - a Christmas tree loves coolness, but when kept in the cold may refuse to bloom. To get a lush bush for Christmas, dotted with many bright buds, in a month and a half you need to put the pot in a room with an air temperature of about + 15 ° C. If the thermometer drops below + 10 ° С, you can not wait for the buds.

Watering features

Watering the plant is an equally important factor. Often, the shedding of segments of their so-called leaves is perceived by the grower as a lack of moisture. However, this symptom often indicates that there is an excess of moisture in the soil.

The Christmas watering regime is approximately as follows:

• in the warm season, the earth is moistened no more than 2 times a week;

• in the autumn period, the soil is irrigated once a week, and starting from October and even less often - 2 times a month.

Watering is carried out with settled water, if it is taken from the water supply. Chlorine evaporates from an open container in about a day. When water is brought from a well or other source, it should be allowed to stand to warm up to room temperature.

During the active growing season, from early spring to late summer, it is useful to fertilize flowering plants. Top dressing is carried out together with every second watering.

Christmas substrate

The soil for the Christmas tree must be nutritious. The substrate is prepared from the following components:

• deciduous land;

• sod land;

• humus earth;

• sand.

A planting pot is chosen with drainage holes. Several handfuls of expanded clay are placed on the bottom. It is helpful to add a layer of charcoal on top. And last of all, fill the container with soil mixture.

In the process of transplanting, the earth is lightly tamped around an earthen coma that envelops the root system. After transplanting into a fresh substrate, refrain from watering for at least 3 days. If, as a result of watering, the earth settles, add a little more soil mixture.

Pot size matters too

Drainage holes not only help get rid of excess moisture in the soil, but also find out if it's time to transplant the plant into a larger pot. If this moment has come, roots will begin to peep out of them. The transplant is usually carried out every two years. The optimal time for this procedure is March.

A Christmas man will feel uncomfortable not only in a small pot, but also too big for its size. When the container for a flower is too big, you can observe how the roots begin to look out on the surface of the soil. A large amount of land provokes the plant to build up the root system, and there is no energy left for flowering this year.

A place under the sun

The lighting of the Christmas tree is of great importance for the future flowering. It should be shaded in the summer months. And with the arrival of autumn - put it in the lightest place in the house.

Another interesting feature of the flower is its dislike for touch and transfer to a new place during budding and during flowering. From such actions, the Christmas tree can completely shed the buds and no longer bloom this season.
