It seems that it is very simple: take a hose or a bucket - and you water your health. But this, at first glance, the simplest case has its own subtleties and nuances, without knowing which you can ruin the zucchini

For example, excessive moisture in the soil leads to rotting of fruits, and dry soil leads to shedding of the ovary and a decrease in yield. How not to ruin the harvest?

Pay attention to several important points:

1. When watering, in no case should water get on the leaves of the zucchini, otherwise the leaves may get sick and dry out.

2. Never water the squash with cold water! This cannot be done due to the close location of the roots to the soil surface. Watering with cold water, including well water or well water, can lead to the death of bushes and crops.

3. If, after watering, the roots of the bush are exposed, then in no case do not spud them with a hoe, raking the ground under the bush! It is impossible to sprinkle the zucchini with a hoe for the reason that the roots are close to the surface and can be easily damaged. For hilling, you need to use fresh land, purchased peat or soil is also suitable.

4. Never spare the water for the squash and avoid frequent watering! It is better to water thoroughly and well 1 time than a little every day, since the water will simply evaporate from the surface of the earth, before reaching its destination - the roots of the squash.

Water temperature for watering zucchini

As I wrote above, zucchini should not be watered with cold water. It is best to have a special container, which is filled with water in the evening or in the morning. During the day, the water will warm up well, and it can be used for irrigation. The optimum temperature for watering zucchini is 20-25 degrees Celsius.

Before watering, you can also heat the water in a container on a fire, gas, in a kettle and add a certain amount to a bucket of cold water until the desired temperature is obtained. But this is a more labor-intensive (and financially too) way.

When and how to water zucchini

There is an opinion that zucchini must be watered in the morning, but not at other times of the day. In fact, this is not the case. You can water in the morning and in the evening, the main thing is that the activity of the sun at this moment is minimal. By the way, if you water after sunset, you won't have to worry if a couple of drops fall on the leaves, nothing will happen to them.

In dry, clear weather, zucchini is not watered very often, but watering should be very abundant. Each bush requires 10-15 liters of water. Water must be poured strictly into the hole under the bush so that it does not spread over the surface of a large plot of land, but is absorbed into the soil. If, when watering with water, it eroded the ground and exposed the roots, spud the bush a little. But don't heap the soil! There must be a hole in which water is poured during watering.

After watering small bushes, it is advisable (but not necessary) to slightly mulch the soil with straw or grass. Or at least lightly sprinkle with dry sand or earth. This is necessary in order for the moisture to evaporate more slowly. After the bushes have grown, mulching is not required, since the zucchini will themselves create a shadow with their leaves.

Zucchini watering frequency

Before the appearance of the first ovary, it is enough to water the zucchini once a week. This moisture is enough for the zucchini for normal development. It is better not to overmoisten the soil, otherwise it can lead to decay of the roots. After the appearance of the ovary, the frequency of watering increases and is 1 time in 3-4 days. At the same time, the amount of water used to water one bush does not increase. But be sure to monitor the condition of the soil! If the soil is wet, no watering is required! Excessive watering is just as harmful as a lack of moisture.
