Eucharis: Home Care

Eucharis is a culture with large inflorescences, always green, perennial, onion-shaped and with a short stem. The leaves of this plant have a wide oval shape, dark green in color. In terms of length, they reach about thirty to thirty-five centimeters. The edges of young leaves are packed with two tubes in the middle of the veins

The indoor flower eucharis never completely sheds its leaves, and does not refuse them, because the loss of leaves for this culture is quite harmful and negative. In fact, eucharis is a very charming plant, especially during the flowering phase. In its physiology, eucharis is somewhat reminiscent of a garden daffodil, but there is still a big difference between them.

Eucharis large-flowered type blooms twice a year, but there is an exception when the moment of flowering occurs three times. This can usually be seen in late fall or early spring. On it, flowering arrows begin to appear with two or three charming white flowers with a diameter of about twelve centimeters, which have a persistent, but rather pleasant aroma.

The flowers are combined in an amount of three to six pieces, and are also collected in the head of the brush from the upper part of the flowering element, the diameter of which is sixty centimeters. In good and positive conditions, eucharis can even bear two peduncles, in which from three to six or more inflorescences will become united.

The culture feels good indoors, where it can bloom and develop for a large number of years. A wonderful sill area for eucharis is the windows facing west or east. The flower will not be able to withstand the hot scorching sun, and even more so, its direct rays. He is best suited for bright, but at the same time diffused light. In the summer season, it is best to place it on a glazed loggia, but the flower must be protected from direct sunlight.

Eucharis is a plant that treats warm air very well, therefore you need to remember that cold nights already begin in August, and in September the first autumn frosts will come. There is a way to protect the plant from this trouble. To do this, take a small piece of polyethylene, pull it over the plant, thus making a small greenhouse for it.

The best temperature for this plant should be at least fifteen degrees. During the period of active development of the flower, the temperature should be at least eighteen degrees. In the winter period of time, eucharis needs to be watered less often, and the temperature should not be lower than eighteen degrees. If there is a strong fluctuation in the temperature regime in the room, then the plant will begin to bloom with crushed flowers. If the temperature is lower / higher than the indicated norms, then the bulbs of the plant may freeze and the leaves fall off.

In early spring, you need to start watering it less often. But such a need is needed for about six weeks, in order for the plant to start blooming actively. During growth, Eucharis should be watered two to three times a week, very carefully, without leaving moisture and stagnant water at the root system. When the plant is in the phase of intensive growth, the soil requires neutral moisture, which cannot be said for other bulbous flowers, but even so, you need to be careful not to form stagnation in the pots. If you do not properly care for and water the plant, then the bulbs can begin to rot. Eucharis needs constant but careful watering. Watering should be done about once every three to four days.

After the eucharis stops blooming, it will begin to rest. This period lasts from thirty-five to fifty days. Watering the plant at this time is necessary only if absolutely necessary. You shouldn't fertilize either. All this is due to the need for the plant to retain healthy and strong leaves, and also not to fall off the old ones.

The watering procedure and constant feeding can achieve results if the plant is preparing for flowering. A similar period in the plant is noticed two to three times a year, in late spring and early autumn, and the third time around mid-August and in winter. If the plant blooms twice a year, then this can already be considered a success.

Eucharis needs constant spraying with water at room temperature. During flowering, spraying should be stopped for a while, because excess moisture can spoil the appearance of the inflorescences. From drops of water, brownish, ugly specks may appear on the flowers.
