Many people are not indifferent to juicy and fleshy tomatoes, which is why they are grown in almost every country house! This healthy and tasty vegetable is good not only fresh, but also canned, but not every variety of tomatoes is suitable for processing. However, Adeline tomatoes are best suited for these purposes! What is this variety, and what are its main features and benefits?

The main features of the variety

Tomatoes of the Adeline variety are usually grown in the open field, however, they will also bear fruit very well in greenhouses, however, the yield during greenhouse cultivation will still be somewhat lower. The height of the bushes of these tomatoes rarely exceeds forty-five centimeters, so they almost never need to be tied. As for the ripening time, this variety is usually referred to as mid-season - as a rule, from the moment of sowing the seeds to the moment of harvesting the fruits, it takes from one hundred and ten to one hundred and fifteen days. It is quite permissible to grow such tomatoes on an industrial scale - from each hectare it will not be difficult to collect from two hundred and forty to four hundred and fifty centners of juicy fruits.

Oblong tomatoes of this variety boast a rich bright red color and an extremely attractive presentation, and the average weight of each tomato is about eighty-five grams. In addition, these fruits can be kept fresh for quite a long time without any refrigeration and can easily be transported over impressive distances, and at the same time, in both cases, they do not lose their great taste!

Adeline tomatoes are delicious both fresh and salted or pickled. And they are also used to prepare wonderful seasonings, sauces, ketchups and pastas.

Advantages

In addition to their great taste, one of the most important advantages of Adeline tomatoes is their absolute unpretentiousness - they are perfect for both lazy summer residents and those who, for various reasons, cannot visit their site as often as they would like. These tomatoes do not need regular watering, they can perfectly tolerate even prolonged heat and boast impressive resistance to a wide variety of ailments (especially if they are grown in relatively low air humidity and in warm enough weather) or pests, as well as equally impressive yields.

Flaws

This variety also has one rather significant drawback - the tomatoes of the Adeline variety categorically do not tolerate waterlogging of the soil, so that during the period of prolonged rains, handsome tomatoes can be affected by extremely unpleasant fungal ailments.

Is it difficult to grow?

Even novice summer residents can grow Adeline tomatoes. True, the fact that these tomatoes do not need special care does not mean that you will not have to take care of them at all - no, just planting them and leaving them to themselves will not work either! Growing tomatoes need regular feeding and systematic weeding, and if the heat turns out to be too prolonged, then sometimes they still have to be watered. But protective equipment against any ailments or pests in the case of Adeline tomatoes, most likely, will not be needed.

Before the start of fruit ripening, high-quality mineral fertilizers are applied to the soil under the tomatoes, in addition, before the start of fruit formation, many summer residents also feed tomato bushes with an ash solution - wood ash not only perfectly enriches the soil with nitrogen, but is also an excellent repeller for a huge number of harmful insects. By the way, it is absolutely not necessary to prepare a too saturated solution in this case - it is quite enough to take only fifty to seventy grams of pre-sifted ash for a ten-liter bucket of water. And they usually insist on it for four to five days. As for the treatments themselves, they are best done in the late afternoon.

Despite the fact that in general, Adeline tomatoes do not need tying, sometimes the bushes can start to grow too much in breadth - in this case, it is still better to tie the stalks to the supports, and first of all this is necessary so that the sunlight can evenly cover all fruits without exception.

Collection and storage

In order for the Adeline tomatoes to be stored as long as possible, the bushes should be harvested exclusively in the daytime and only in dry weather - in no case should you pick off ripe tomatoes immediately after rain or if they have already managed to become covered with evening dew. If you plan to store fresh fruits for a very long period, then it is better to cut off for these purposes not fully ripened bright red, but exclusively brown fruits. And in all cases, the harvested crop should be stored in a sufficiently cool and dark place!
